✨Happy International Midwives’ Day! ✨
All of us at Trillium are so blessed to recognize that we were called to this work according to a plan bigger than ours. Without the confidence that this is 100% what we are each supposed to be doing, there is no chance any of us could still be practicing in this field. The emotional, physical, and mental work that goes into midwifery is sometimes more than most people might notice. The lying awake at 3 am, night after night, worrying about an upcoming client’s birth that you’ve been anticipating might not be completely smooth. The frequent second guessing decisions you made in prenatal or labor management, and wondering if you made the right choice. The heartache of hearing your children (from two up to eighteen) saying “do you have to leave again?” as you rush out the door to another birth, five minutes after returning from a full prenatal day, or a previous day long birth, knowing you’re missing another family dinner, birthday, or bedtime book. If there was not assurance that this is our calling, we could not, and would not, be doing this.
All of this is balanced by clients we love, births that bring joy and laughter, a town that takes good care of us, jokes and “behind the scenes” goofiness, quality snacks in our cupboards, midwives and staff who all deeply love and support each other, and the ultimate knowledge that we are designed to do hard things.

✨Learning to crotchet through tears
We have learned that laughter is the best remedy. We will keep encouraging each other with this truth, as we will to all our clients 🙂 Your midwives love you, each other, and this work.
