People see an $80 massage and think the therapist is pocketing $80. I wish that were true 😂

The reality is that “1 hour massage” rarely means 1 hour of work.

For many massage therapists, like myself, 20 to 30 hands-on hours a week is considered full time because of the physical demand on our bodies. And those hands-on hours don’t include:

• laundry
• sanitizing
• charting and client notes
• booking and scheduling .. marketing!
• supplies like oils, creams, sheets, detergents, and tools
• continuing education
• self-care so we can keep doing this work long term

On an $80 session, my take-home is closer to $39 before business expenses are even added in.

I do this work because I genuinely care about helping you feel better. But I also think it’s important for clients to understand what goes into each session behind the scenes. Every appointment supports far more than the hour spent on the table.
