The answer is yes, specifically for existing muscle pain and stiffness!
Heat therapy works by improving circulation and blood flow to a particular area.
Increasing the temperature of the affected area even slightly can soothe discomfort and increase muscle flexibility.
However, if your pain is new, we recommend using ice for 20 min along with some hands-on help from a professional 🙂

Here’s an easy way to stretch your neck – and you can do it anywhere, anytime.

Gently bend the head ear-to-shoulder, then look down toward the ground. You should feel a nice stretch on the side/back of your neck. Hold this position for 10-30 seconds. Repeat as needed throughout your day.

Before we work any magic on our patients, we strive to make sure that we understand them and their unique situations – everybody is different, and what might work on some may not work on others.

In a nutshell, our process looks like this:

First, we conduct a thorough medical history of the patient.

Then, we look at your vital signs – namely body temperature, pulse, breathing rate, and blood pressure.

After that, we visually inspect for spinal curves or other visible health indicators.

Once we’ve inspected visually, we use our hands to feel out your spine and the muscles and other soft tissues that support it.

Lastly, we conduct orthopedic and neurological examinations – fancy terms for assessing the function of your spine, joints, and muscles, and the function of your motor and sensory systems.

We are quite thorough ;)

Ironically, stretching can sometimes exacerbate, rather than alleviate, the pain we may feel in our neck and back.

Here are some SOLID GOLD tips for a safe and effective stretching routine:

-Wear comfortable clothing that won’t bind or constrict movements
-Do not force the body into difficult or painful positions—stretching shouldn't be terribly painful
-Stretch slowly using smooth movements and avoid bouncing, which can cause muscle strain
-Stretch on a clean, flat surface that is large enough to move around freely
-Hold stretches long enough (15-30 seconds to count) to adequately lengthen muscles and improve range of motion
-Repeat a stretch between 2 and 5 times—a muscle usually reaches maximum elongation after about 4 repetitions

As a general rule of thumb, use ice for anything new (injuries or pain).
Treating pain with cold, also known as cryotherapy, is an easy and effective way to reduce inflammation and relieve nerve pain.
Be careful though:🥶
Cold therapy applied for too long or too directly can result in skin, tissue, or nerve damage. To avoid this, simply wrap your ice pack in a small towel before you apply it to your skin for a maximum time of 20 min.

Ah, the dreaded ankle sprain! So easy to suffer, but such a nuisance!

- Ankle sprains are often classified as either type 1, type 2, or type 3, with the last being the most severe.
- When one experiences an ankle sprain, regardless of classified type, the ligaments in the ankle are now strained (shortened or lengthened due to trauma and the body's response to it).
