Additionally, a huge thank you to Dr. Thangarajan for leading an engaging workshop on Global Health Inequities, helping our students understand the challenges and importance of equitable healthcare worldwide. We wrapped up the day with a fun scavenger hunt around the hospital… though the mysterious squirrel in the outdoor garden remains unfound. We are changing pain care around the world! A few weeks ago, Dr. Rachael Coakley, and her The Comfort Ability Program Team (Drs. Villa, Hale, Bujoreanu, LaVigne and program manager Janae Biggs) travelled to Medellin in Colombia. They led a multidisciplinary pain education day with more than 400 attendees and launched a co-creation workshop where they worked with Latin American colleagues to identify cultural and systems-level factors that impact pain care at the local and national level. This fall they will return to launch a cultural adaptation of the Comfort Ability Program in collaboration with Growth, an interdisciplinary psychology practice in Medellin.
