& are you holding yourself back from achieving it because you’re focusing too much on the end result?

We all want instant gratification without having to think much about it.

When we’re working towards something (especially if it’s in relation to a physical goal) we think we’d be thrilled if it just *happened*

But let me ask you this…

What should you eat to lose weight? What should you eat to be healthy? These are such common questions we get from prospective clients and current members.

Here is our tip for today 💭
We highly suggest focusing on measurements and overall wellness when trying to lose weight. You have probably caught yourself focusing so much on the scale before that you got frustrated and gave up! For some of our clients, we even tell them to put the scale away for awhile until they can form a healthy relationship with it. If you catch yourself weighing multiple times a day, or getting emotional when you don’t see a number on the scale you like, it’s probably time for a detox from your scale! Instead, try taking progress photos and body stats like measurements. Measure everything! Neck, chest, shoulders, both biceps, both forearms, waist, hips, both thighs, both calf’s. It is easiest to have somebody do them for you, as it can be difficult to do yourself accurately.

You want to know what the most underrated secret weapon for weight loss and health is?
WALKING!
Want to know a crazy fact that is hard to believe? You burn about the same about of calories briskly walking a mile vs. running a mile. (yes there is small difference, but not that much overall)
Doesn't seem right, huh? The reason is that, yes running increases heart rate more, and overall physical fitness, but that is not the same as the amount of energy expended over a period of time. You might run a mile in 8 minutes, but it might take you 20 minutes or so to walk a mile. That means that even though you are putting in more intensity, you are doing it for less time than the walking a mile.
Plus almost everyone, young or old, can walk. It is much easier to start a program of walking 20 minutes a day instead of hearing someone say "run a mile everyday."

Most people think of exercise as black and white. They do not think that walking is as good as a weight training routine. They serve different purposes, and both can be great when trying to lose weight! The issue is that most people trying to start a health and wellness journey get burnt out so quickly or give up when you try and implement an intense exercise routine in the gym.

Do you ever just have goals that seem to be very vague and all over the place?

Like “getting healthy.”

That’s one of the #1 goals we hear. The problem with this innocent type of goal? It is very broad and could mean a lot of things. We are all about SMART goals here at Fast Weight Loss 365.

-Specific: Be as clear and specific as possible with what you want to achieve. The more narrow your goal, the more you’ll understand the steps necessary to achieve it.

-Measurable: Setting milestones along the way will give you the opportunity to re-evaluate and course-correct as needed. When you achieve your milestones, remember to reward yourself in small but meaningful ways.

-Achievable: Setting goals you can reasonably accomplish within a certain timeframe will help keep you motivated and focused.

-Relevant: When setting goals for yourself, consider whether or not they are relevant. Each of your goals should align with your values and larger, long-term goals.

-Time-based: What is your goal time-frame? An end-date can help provide motivation and help you prioritize.

Here’s an example-
A client is struggling with eating fast food a lot and it is hindering their results, making it harder to reach their health goals.
They continue to tell themselves “I’m too tired to make dinner tonight.”
REFRAME: “I am going to prepare a very simple meal this evening, even though I feel tired because I will feel better making my own meal and it will help me reach my goals easier.”

Tea is considered one of the most widely consumed beverages in the world, right behind water. Have you ever wondered what’s some benefits are of it? What about what makes up teas composition that could be helpful? Let’s check it out.

-Caffeine- ahh, that nice pick me up substance that’s gives you a little energy. Also boosts brain function. Research has consistently shown that caffeine can improve various aspects of brain function, including mood, vigilance, reaction time, and memory

-L-Theanine: an amino acid that increases the activity of the inhibitory neurotransmitter GABA, which has anti-anxiety effect.
Studies show that caffeine and L-theanine can have synergistic effects. This means that the combination of the two can have particularly powerful effects in improving brain function

-Polyphenols: Polyphenols are a category of compounds naturally found in plant foods, such as fruits, vegetables, herbs, spices, tea, dark chocolate, and wine.
They can act as antioxidants, meaning they can neutralize harmful free radicals that would otherwise damage your cells and increase your risk of conditions like cancer, diabetes, and heart disease. The main polyphenol is a catechin called epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG). This is what is commonly found in supplements that have Green Tea Extract in them.

These are just a few of the compounds present in tea that can be beneficial, and it’s not just green tea that can be good.

Meet Jane.

Jane enjoys her pumpkin spice lattes and cold brew with cold foam almost everyday at her local Starbucks. I mean who can blame her those things are pretty tasty and convenient, am I right?

As an example: the grande Pumpkin Cold Brew with Cold Foam at Starbucks is 250 calories. Their grande latte version is 380 calories.
If she has one of these every day, by the end of the week she can consume as much as 1750-2660 calories just in coffees!

This is not to shame anyones food choices, nor is it to say you can not enjoy your starbucks AND still lose weight. What we are trying to illustrate here is that it becomes much more difficult to reduce calories when you consume things like this on a regular basis.
