This Father’s Day, we thought it appropriate to highlight our “Godfather of the West Coast,” Mark Paretchan, owner of FirstLight locations in Marin County and Sonoma County. Mark got his nickname because of his love for mentoring others, and one of his most notable mentees is his son – and VP, Assistant General Manager – Charlie.

Mark, what’s one unexpected thing you’ve learned about Charlie while working together?
“I have learned to be more patient and am excited about the future of our family business because of his efforts. We spend a lot more time together and I am impressed with his abilities in the operational side of our company.”

Thanks, Mark and Charlie, for showing us that fathers and sons can discover new things about each other at any age.

You’re probably aware of what Alzheimer’s Disease is, but how does it change the brain, exactly?

Alzheimer’s slowly damages the connections that help us think and remember. Then, plaque builds up and cells tangle, affecting memory centers first and then spreading to impaired thinking, behavior and bodily functions later.

So, if your loved one is dealing with this disease, this is why you may notice memory loss first, then she changes in everyday behavior over time. Take a closer look at how Alzheimer’s affects the brain here: https://www.alz.org/alzheimers-dementia/what-is-alzheimers/brain-tour-part-2
