I am 37 today. Just a little grayer but stronger 💪 than ever.

I started this channel about 5 years ago with no reason to believe it would go anywhere….5 years later and I am somehow 🤷‍♂️ a well known figure in the Spondyloarthritis/Ankylosing Spondylitis community.

I started my virtual personal training business to help as many people as I could (especially those with Spondyloarthritis) because I personally know the challenges of getting in shape with this disease. I also know that many will write us off and tell us things aren’t possible.

This past year was the first time when I thought I couldn’t do this job anymore. Spondylitis hit me pretty hard for a couple months. Spondylitis is no joke, and when it’s bad it can have quite an impact on your life. But it became clear why I had such a flare, I wasn’t taking care of myself the way I have to. Like the many times before, after the flare I was more focused than ever to never get back to that spot. Through the ups and downs this is why I started my business. It’s a rollercoaster that teaches me something different each day and each challenge. No matter what I will always keep searching for more ways for this community to get healthy and stay healthy.

None of this happens without support and community, I thank everyone who has ever sent me a supportive message 😀 For those who say I have helped them, they have equally helped me keep going 💪

I find myself at a pivotal time in my spondylitis journey.

I am certain that last flare happened because I wasn’t taking care of myself. High stress, gaining weight, not sleeping, not exercising as much etc etc. it kept building up and then when I got a weird virus my body went into an inflammatory tornado.

CAN WE JUST THRIVE and beat this thing??? Remission? No pain? No stiffness? No memories of limping around and the struggle.

I’ve never really been in remission? Maybe? Depends on the criteria but what I am saying is I’ve only felt better because I did everything I could for my health. It wasn’t just remission out of nowhere it was just me being extremely healthy, having stiffness and tightness but being able to break it up and feel good. Limiting inflammation.

After the flare I’ve been extremely focused on getting back there and to health in all ways possible. Now seems like the most pivotal time.

Let’s do whatever we can. LETS KEEP GOING

SPONDYLITIS UPDATE (I’ve been doing a lot of curls because my hip and back hurt!)

If you’ve been following the journey, a couple months ago a weird virus triggered a pretty serious AS situation, some very active sacroilitis (inflammation of the SI joints), I have had sacroillitis off and on for a very long time, but whatever happened this time triggered an inflammatory response I’ve never had before. Along with this my inflammatory markers were through the rough, this caused some pretty extreme pain. I was practically couch and bed ridden for a couple weeks and the pain persisted a couple months.

I’ve put so much work into my health that when something like this happens and your set back it can feel like there’s nothing else you can do. That’s wrong…everything I’ve done in the past has stayed with me I just had to ease back into it. But this time I had to do things differently and keep searching for more. That may be the key with this…we can’t stay stagnant we need to always keep searching for ways to get healthier. Moral of the story, keep going, never stop, keep searching, use the hard times as MOTIVATION and keep learning a little something different about your resilience.
