A 2024 study from the Women’s Health Initiative highlights an important truth: obesity is a complex, chronic disease that can significantly impact breast cancer outcomes.

In a study of more than 63,000 postmenopausal women, those with higher metabolic scores or severe obesity were more likely to be diagnosed with — and die from — breast cancer, even when other health factors were considered.
