Today is World Heart Day and a good time to remind everyone that cardiovascular disease can be prevented through affordable access to care, early screening, and by taking opportunities to make healthy choices with diet and exercise.

The World Heart Federation reports that one in five people will die early from cardiovascular disease (CVD), which claims more lives than cancer and chronic respiratory diseases combined. Yet, up to 80% of heart disease and stroke cases are preventable.

Together we can help raise awareness of cardiovascular disease and how important it is to take care of your heart.

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in the U.S., and the second leading cause of cancer deaths overall. Because early stages often have no symptoms—screening is essential.

While there is higher risk with age, family history, and for African American men, there is also a 97% survival rate when it’s found early.

If you’re due for a screening, talk to your doctor. Early detection can save lives.

September is National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month, and healthy habits start early! Children ages 3–5 should be active throughout the day, and kids ages 6–17 really need at least 60 minutes of activity daily to support healthy growth and development.

How can you keep your kids moving?

* Make physical activity part of your family routine
* Keep things fun and varied
* Head out to local parks and safe spaces
* Always support and encourage your child
* Make sure safety comes first

It only takes some small, consistent steps to help build lifelong healthy habits.

Flu season will be here before you know it. Get you and your family ready by booking your flu vaccine early, practicing good hygiene, boosting your immune system, and staying home if you're sick.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that everyone 6 months and older get vaccinated annually, as the flu virus constantly changes. The 2025-2026 vaccine will be updated to help protect against the most common strains.
