Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month helps us raise awareness about ovarian cancer and the importance of early diagnosis.

Ovarian cancer symptoms are quiet, so the disease is often undetected until later stages. Some signs to look for include bloating, pelvic pain, difficulty eating, and changes in urinary or bowel habits.

There is no routine screening test for ovarian cancer, so it’s really important to listen to your body and talk to your doctor if any symptoms last for more than two weeks.

Did you know you could volunteer your time at GRMDC?

Our volunteers are such an important part of the our community. From assisting with programs, engaging with community members, or creating a welcoming space, you can make a difference.

All volunteers need to be over 18 and complete an application, screening and onboarding, which includes training and orientation.

Our volunteers gain hands-on experience, make meaningful connections, and have real impact on real people.

It makes us so happy to support National Breastfeeding Month. Breast milk is the best food for babies during their first year of life and can help them grow healthy and strong. If you can and want to breastfeed, it’s important to learn as much as you can about it. Not sure where to begin? Talk to your doctor.

August is Summer Sun Safety Month! ☀️

More time outdoors means more time in the sun, and a greater need to protect your skin and health. Summer Sun Safety Month is here to remind us of the real risks of UV radiation and how to stay safe in the sun.

Here’s what you can do:
* Stay in the shade during peak hours (10 AM – 4 PM)
* Wear UV protective clothing and wide-brimmed hats
* Apply broad-spectrum sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher, reapplying it every 2 hours
* Stay hydrated to avoid heat-related illness
We all love the sun, but it’s important to be safe too. Protect yourself and your family and enjoy the rest of this warm, wonderful season.
