ERN Doula & Perinatal Education

ERN Doula & Perinatal Education ERN Doula offers full service perinatal support from conception to first birthday. Hello! Why did I get into birth work?

Birth Doula CD(DONA), Postpartum Doula & Infant Care Specialist (CD-PIC), Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC), Provisional SpBCPE, BACE trained CBE, RYT-200 I’m Erin Ronder Neves…

I am no stranger to the learning curve of parenthood! I am committed to helping new families find their true north on this life-changing journey. I strive to validate and fulfill a family’s birth preferences through evi

dence based education, access to quality perinatal care, and personal empowerment. I let my intuition, expansive knowledge, and instinct guide my hands-on support style, and help create a nurturing environment that fosters confidence, self-advocacy, and love. I aspire to give birthing individuals and families the space to be themselves to create deep connections during this beautiful, miraculous and vulnerable time. My interest in pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum began with my own journey into parenthood in 2013. I decided to become a doula after the birth of my second daughter in 2016. Those experiences are what ignited my passion for supporting families from conception through the first year. For thousands of years, across all cultures and colors, birthing people have been surrounded by others throughout perinatal period. Our society today does not promote this communal support network that taught our ancestors how to stay comfortable in pregnancy, how to birth or breastfeed, and most importantly, heal afterwards. I seek to empower families through the steep learning curve of becoming a larger family so that they can reconnect with their instincts, and know they are not alone on this unpredictable journey. Some additional background I love to share:
My training as a dancer, actor, singer, and certified yoga teacher provides me with a deep understanding of the capabilities of the human body. I encourage my birthing persons to be active participants in their pregnancy and birth by being their cheerleader, and incorporating movement, yoga and Spinning Babies® into their daily prenatal and laboring routines. In addition to being a birth worker, I am an Arts Inclusion Specialist. I work throughout the Greater Boston Theatre community to create accessible, inclusive arts programming, and sensory friendly performance opportunities for the neurodiverse community. Learn more about my arts education work here: www.ernartsed.com

When I am not helping families in the arts or throughout the birth process, I enjoy acting, dancing, singing, teaching theater to students of all ages, working with the neurodiverse community, going to live performances, reading, listening to audiobooks, going to any library or bookstore, practicing yoga, exercising, martial arts, driving fun cars, comic books (DC preferred), spending time with my two amazing daughters, laughing with my husband, and snuggling with my two Labrador Retrievers, Bruce Wayne and Barbara “Babs” Gordon. (Yes, they are named after Batman and Batgirl.)

A few weeks ago, I was honored to be invited onto Resilient Birth’s Podcast to share my experience with Perinatal Mood & Anxiety Disorders after the births of both of my girls. My story is what led me to becoming a doula, being an advocate for all parents, and ultimately opening Beyond Birthing .

The podcast was just released, and I am so excited to share it with you here. Thanks for listening. 💞

This is our second episode of Season 2 and today we are talking to Erin Ronder Neves, a birth and postpartum doula, about her experiences with Postpartum Depression and OCD. In this episode, Erin shares candidly about the intrusive thoughts she experienced and the support she sought to help her through this frightening experience.

We wanted to link to this helpful article to help you understand how intrusive thoughts and OCD work and how they are different to postpartum psychosis: https://www.cedars-sinai.org/blog/difference-between-postpartum-anxiety-ocd-psychosis.html

Unlike postpartum OCD, postpartum psychosis is a medical emergency and visiting your nearest emergency room is the appropriate response.

On the Resilient Birth podcast, Justine and Sarah explore the impact of trauma in the perinatal period. Through an inspirational quote that drives the weekly content, Justine and Sarah explore various trauma areas with vulnerability and compassion that support birthing people and birth professionals.

Each week, listeners leave with takeaways to utilize in their lives and/or clients. Justine and Sarah hold the stories they share with honor and respect with the hope to impart knowledge, increase understanding, and bear witness to this challenging topic.

As you all know Beyond Birthing is officially open! I am incredibly humbled, extremely grateful and over the moon excited from all the support. Thank you! Thank you!

I want to share a fundraiser that Beyond Birthing has launched in honor of our opening. One of our missions is to close the gap on accessibility to mental health support and community connections. We have over 20 in-person support groups offered at Beyond Birthing, and we would be so honored if you could read more about how you can help make support groups available to all! Thank you for considering and keeping us in mind.

Being a doula is all about connecting with others and meeting them in their humanity. A colleague passed along this article to me and it really resonated. The importance of human connection is undervalued. I love being a part of changing that narrative.

In its 85 years and counting, the Harvard Study of Adult Development has found that personal connections are the most important factor in long-term health and happiness.
