Mindful Counseling For Children and Families

Mindful Counseling For Children and Families Callie Antonelli, LICSW
Offering more than just the traditional counseling session.

I believe that we all have the inner resources and strength to overcome our challenges. By using mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, family systems theory, and often a solutions focused approach, I help individuals see their strengths and develop the skills they need to succeed. I believe behavior is always a source of communication, and the more mindful we can be of our actions the greater our ability will be to make effective change in our life.

I love this scene in the Barbie movie. It is so challenging being a girl, woman, mom in today’s culture! We all struggle to find our balance of who we want to be and how we fit into this world and no matter what we do or say someone always has something negative to say about it! Our young girls are also faced with many of the same and different struggles at an age they aren’t quite ready to take them on. Supporting young girls and women is one of my favorite roles in my practice. If you’re feeling like you or your daughter could use support navigating this challenging world, reach out! You are not alone!

To all the parents feeling like they’re not doing a good job. You ARE! Parenting is just REALLY hard! Seek coaching if you need it!

Parenting is HARD. And here’s something I know about good parents on hard days: Good parents count the hours until bedtime. Good parents give cereal for dinner. Good parents have messy houses. Good parents… don’t always feel like good parents.

If all you do today is make it through, that’s enough. You are doing enough. You are enough. Tomorrow is a new day.

Maybe these are the words you need to hear right now... or maybe you don’t need them today, but when the time comes know you can come back to this mantra. I am right here with you. Yes, this “parenting” thing is hard, but it gets a little bit easier when we’re in this together.

Throw a ❤️ in the comments below to show solidarity. Or take it a step further - tag a friend who needs to hear this or share the words you most want to hear on your toughest parenting days.

If your child is on an IEP, take a look at these changes so you can be informed!

Did you know a new IEP form is coming to Massachusetts?

Join us tomorrow for the first session of a five-part series of online workshops delving into the New IEP. We'll talk about what is staying the same, what will change, and how these changes impact students. While not all MA schools have switched over to this new form yet, they are all expected to do so by the 2024-2025 school year.

Thought for the day. If we don’t raise our kids up, who will? Praising and encouraging our kids not only helps them feel our love and connection, it helps build their self esteem and sense of self.

“Resistance is part of the pathway to separation.” Such a great way of thinking about how a child’s mind works when feeling anxiety about transition or separation.

It’s so important to highlight that you love your child and emotions are OKAY!! We want to encourage them healthier ways to express them, and we do that by staying calm with them and modeling for them how to be in control of our own emotions!

After a meltdown 😭 your kids want you to know….

When our kids experience BIG emotions, there can be feelings of guilt and shame.

We want our kids to feel safe in their emotions, even when they have a meltdown.
