🏅 Beacon of Hope Award

In recognition of five years as a guiding light whose leadership, vision, and dedication have been a true beacon of hope for CVAMS and the communities we serve.

Presented to Julio Teixeira, MD

We are deeply honored to recognize Julio Teixeira, MD, President and founding leader of the Cabo Verdean American Medical Society (CVAMS). Dr. Teixeira’s commitment to advancing healthcare in Cabo Verde began decades ago, with surgical missions and clinical interventions dating back to the 1990s—long before CVAMS was established—at a time when access to specialized surgical care was extremely limited.

Over the years, he has returned consistently to provide complex surgical care, support local clinicians, and strengthen surgical capacity through mentorship and knowledge exchange. As a principal founder of CVAMS, his steady leadership over the past five years has been instrumental in shaping the organization’s vision, advancing medical missions, and fostering lasting partnerships.

In honoring Dr. Teixeira with the Beacon of Hope Award, we celebrate not only his professional excellence, but his decades-long devotion to the health, dignity, and well-being of Cabo Verdean communities. 🇨🇻💙

Through CVAMS, he has provided steadfast leadership as a Board Member and Co-Chair of the Education Committee, fostering mentorship, exchange, and outreach across the Cape Verdean medical diaspora.

✨ A Night of Celebration, Culture, and Impact ✨

Gala Album link at the Bio

On October 4, 2025, CVAMS marked its 5th Anniversary Fundraiser Gala with an evening filled with Cabo Verdean music, community, and purpose. Performances by Maria de Barros, Michel Montrond, and Assol Garcia, alongside DJ Chris, brought the spirit of the islands to life.

We also took time to honor distinguished members, recognize community leaders supporting the São Vicente Disaster Relief, and reflect on five years of collective impact.

With gratitude for the journey — and excitement for what lies ahead.
