Closing out Women’s History Month holding both gratitude and urgency.
Gratitude for the women who came before us.
Urgency for the mothers, babies, and families who still deserve better.
Did you know ?
In the United States
2 babies die every hour.
Perinatal mental health conditions affect 1 in 5 moms, with su***de and overdose remaining the leading causes of death in the first year postpartum.
Women of color are up to 50% more likely to give birth preterm.
Infants of color face a 130% higher infant mortality rate
Black mothers are 2.5x more likely to die from pregnancy related causes.
1 in 5 workers don’t have a single paid sick day, making access to prenatal care a privilege, not a guarantee.
On March 4th we participated in the March for Change with and !
We spent the day at the state house advocating for policies that champion health equity including access to quality care, paid prenatal leave, doula services, maternal mental health, childhood immunizations and more.

2 years. Countless families. Endless love. 💕

Justice for Infants is officially 2 years old! 🎉🎂

From a vision to a movement—we are so proud of what these past two years have brought: families supported, clinicians trained, and consulting partnerships that have strengthened feeding + swallowing care in schools, clinics, and communities. 👶🎓

It hasn’t been easy—this journey has taken blood, sweat, tears, and plenty of sleepless nights—but every moment has been worth it to build something bigger than ourselves.

Thank you to every family who trusted us, every child who inspired us, and every colleague and partner who believed in the mission. The best is yet to come 💪🏽✨

Celebrate National Rehabilitation Awareness Week by Advancing Your Practice!

We’ll work together in a supportive clinical environment to help you:

* Support Diverse Families: We’ll dive deep into providing culturally responsive care, ensuring that our practices are inclusive and empowering for all families.

* Embrace Neurodiversity: Gain expertise in conducting modified barium swallow studies (MBS) using neuro-affirming approaches that prioritize the child’s comfort and individual needs.

* Advocate with Confidence: Through realistic role-playing, you’ll practice having those difficult, but necessary, conversations with providers and families, so you can advocate for your patients with clarity and confidence.

* Learn how to create a sensory friendly imaging environment, collaborate with other providers, make informed treatment recommendations, and analyze and interpret swallow studies in live time with real patients.

You’ll leave feeling more competent and connected.

Happy World Breastfeeding Week to

To those who are breastfeeding, chestfeeding, and combo-feeding. To those pumping 3 drops or 3 bags. To those who tried and were left without support. To those who chose their mental health. To those who lasted 3 sucks or 3 years. To the parents doing the best they can with what they have.

Your journey is valid. Your efforts are seen. Your body is enough. Thank you for showing up.

Today we spent National SLP Day presenting on Pediatric Feeding Disorders in Schools with and raising awareness about this very overlooked area of need!

I’m so grateful to and for the opportunity to share and connect with so many passionate professionals. We raised over $750! Check out the replay if you missed it ! Let’s continue the momentum and raise awareness for Pediatric Feeding Disorder (PFD) in all settings — especially schools.

One concern that came up again and again during today’s webinar and all the time :

➡️ School-based SLPs receive little to no training in pediatric dysphagia.
➡️ And the courses that do exist are often inaccessible, offered only during the school day or unaffordable.

We showed up in the pouring rain on Saturday for the March for Babies walk—and what a powerful way to spend Mother’s Day weekend!

It was wet and cold, but so many people still came out! And it makes perfect sense: mothers don’t get to take a day off just because it’s raining or cold, or if they have a headache, backache or cheonic pain. Motherhood is a 24/7, 365 kind of job—and if they can show up every single day, we can show up for them.

HUGE thanks to everyone who walked, cheered, donated, and stood with us in support of healthy moms and strong babies.

I’m so grateful to my fellow March for Babies Committee members, the leadership of the March of Dimes Boston team, and the several beautiful and brilliant board members who helped bring this all together.
