I heard the word āMatrescenceā for the first time about 3 years ago. (BTW, this word is currently going viral thanks to a very cool NYT ad a couple of weeks ago.)
This single word has shaped my entire perspective on Modern Motherhood, mothering, and simply being a human who also happens to be a mother.
It's from this lens I came to understand that this is the most intensive time in all of history to be a parent, especially a mother. The demands on us as mothers - for literally all of the things - have never before been this high, or frankly, this unreasonable.
In spite of that, most of us are trying to navigate this journey on our own, with limited support or community. And so many of the struggles we face as mothers today arenāt "me" problems or personal failures. Theyāre structural, cultural, systemic.
But when we start talking about them and deconstructing the "perfect mother myth" together, something really powerful happens.
Thatās what these Mothers Circles are all about. An intimate group in a sacred, supportive space gathering for real conversations alongside gentle, restorative yoga.
If this resonates with you, or even if you're simply curious, Iād love for you to check it out. Comment CIRCLE here to learn more. ###
