With just a few days left in June, we’re taking a moment to highlight the importance of men’s health and encourage open conversations around bleeding disorders awareness.

Our Nurse Chris Baer shares a timely reminder about the importance of regular check-ins and care.

“As a nurse in a Bleeding Disorders Center, Men’s Health Month is a crucial time to spotlight conditions that can go undiagnosed in men, such as hemophilia and von Willebrand disease. Raising awareness is the first step, many men may ignore symptoms like frequent nosebleeds, prolonged bleeding after injury, or unexplained joint pain. Early detection and proper treatment can significantly improve quality of life and prevent long-term complications. This month, we encourage all men to speak up about symptoms and seek care. Your health is worth it! “

Let’s continue to support the men in our lives in making their health a priority.

As we near the end of the month, it’s important to remember that mental health awareness doesn’t stop here. These conversations need to continue year-round, and so does the support.

Our social worker, Amanda Stahl, shared a powerful reminder:
“You’re not alone, everyone struggles with their mental health at times, and it’s okay to ask for help. Leaning into your community can help give you a sense of belonging. Whether it’s connecting at an upcoming Boston Bleeding Disorders Center event or showing up for a NEHA gathering, your community is there to support you.”

Together, we can keep the support going!

Our social workers Jackie Miranda and Amanda Stahl attended the Wonderfund’s Period Party, helping assemble period packs for kids in the foster care system. These packs provide essential supplies—and this year, they also include an informational card created by our clinical team at the Boston Bleeding Disorders Center! The card offers guidance on what’s normal (and what’s not) when it comes to periods, helping young people in foster care feel informed and empowered.
