What does it mean to lead with heart? At Careforth, our Power of Difference (POD) group helps us answer that question. 💓

In February's "Matters of the Heart" session, associates discussed emotional and physical heart health in honor of American Heart Month, while also digging into the important distinctions between cultural humility and cultural competence.

Many thanks to our POD team for leading a great call!

From what you eat to how you move, February is a reminder we all need to check in on our heart health. 💖 Small, consistent steps like moving your body, getting enough sleep, and building heart-healthy meals are great places to start. Remember: you don't need perfection. You need habits you can actually repeat (especially when life gets busy).

Take the American Heart Association's My Life Check assessment to learn about areas in your life to celebrate or improve on. It's quick, free, and confidential. ➡ https://bit.ly/4auOlSX

Our own RN Care Manager Alyssa Royal (pictured center) saved a man's life last month. 🩺 When Myron collapsed at a high school basketball game, Alyssa jumped into action and says her years of training and ER experience took over.

"CPR is something everyone should learn. It prepares you to act in an emergency—especially if you care for someone with underlying health conditions. You truly never know when it might save a life," Alyssa said. "If you are the sole caregiver for someone with medical conditions, you can never be too prepared."

Myron began his road to recovery as he and his family kept Alyssa updated on his condition. On Christmas Eve, she learned the good news that Myron would be home for Christmas. "We met in person for the first time in January, a moment filled with overwhelming emotion and gratitude. We have remained in contact since, and that connection continues to mean a great deal to me."
