To my friends and professional peers working in education, as we aim to inform and empower our students, let’s do our due diligence and ensure that the information we share is accurate, and tells the whole story.

I will leave this article here about Claudette Colvin, who was the FIRST to refuse to give up her seat during the Civil Rights era.

Because colorism, light skin favor and White adjacence has always been “a thing”, Rosa Parks was placed in history as the first… share this truth with your students this month.

Claudette Colvin was the first black woman to refuse to give up her seat on a bus. Yet she never received widespread recognition for it.

I am beyond grateful for all of the opportunities that I have to facilitate, encourage and hopefully inspire folks in areas of wellness, self care, activism, education and anti-racism.

Any time that these subjects can intersect within an opportunity is even better.

If you are a member of the Massachusetts Teacher’s Association, or an educator seeking encouragement around developing self care strategies for yourself, please join me, in collaboration with the organization’s Anti-Racism Task Force, virtually on January 24 for the launch of this webinar series! I’ll be presenting on this particular date, but each month there will be a different webinar.

Take a look & register if you see something of interest.

• I had been sitting on this, but I don’t see the point in waiting any longer.

It was said by Malcolm X that the most disrespected person in America is the Black woman. The most unprotected person in America is the Black woman. The most neglected person in America is the Black woman.

These shirts were created by a Black woman, to encourage a shift in how Black women are seen, received and held, and are the first item that I will offer from YSB |Your Sista’s Bodega ®

The proceeds from these shirts will go towards creating Wellness programming specifically for Black women and Black girls.

You can purchase a shirt via the “Protect Black Women tee” link in my LinkTree (in my profile bio*).

Good Morning!

I want to leave this with you, as you approach the day.

Each of us has different factors that motivate / influence / impact the way in which we move through life, and also how we experience life.

This can be related to both our personal and professional experiences and endeavors.

Think about your “why”.

The truth behind the choices you make, the roles you choose ...

You can learn so much from the answers to that inquiry.

Start there.

Note: Those who hold space for healing (Healers*) are the ones who have become so comfortable with their pain that they have chosen to learn from it and using it as a stepping stone to all things divine.

We don’t allow our pain or the pain of the world to make us suffer.

We chose to transmute it into something beautiful. 🌿
Thanks for last evenings practice, .x.che. Always grateful for the opportunity to practice with you.

Happy Wednesday, everyone.

I wanted to take a few moments to say hello and see how y’all are doing.

I hope that you are finding or creating peace and joy for yourselves.

But above all, I hope that you are finding or creating space for healing.

An affirmation that I’d like to share, which supports healing energy is as follows:

“With each step today, I send healing energy directly to the parts of me that needs it most.”

We are all in need of healing on some level. And sometimes it can be deeply challenging to create enough compassion for ourselves to see that we DESERVE to heal. That we do not have to move through our lives with the weight of I acknowledged and / or unhealed trauma.

Gift yourself with compassion and healing.

Take the time to lean into the discomfort that may come with familiarizing yourself with your edges, understanding that what is on the other side of that discomfort can be so rich and beautiful.
