We all have bad habits we’d like to break, but a few of them can also do major damage to your teeth! 😧 Here are 6 bad habits that might be harming your teeth:

1️⃣ Nail biting - This nervous habit can chip teeth and impact your jaw.
2️⃣ Brushing too hard - Brushing with a hard toothbrush, or brushing too hard, can damage teeth and irritate gums.
3️⃣ Grinding your teeth - This can cause chipping or cracking of the teeth, as well as muscle tenderness or joint pain.
4️⃣ Chewing ice cubes - Chewing hard ice cubes can cause a tooth or filling to break.
5️⃣ Constant snacking - Snacking multiple times a day, especially on sugary foods and drinks, puts you at a higher risk for cavities.
6️⃣ Using teeth as tools - If you use your teeth to rip open a wrapper, for example, you put yourself at a higher risk of cracking your teeth, injuring your jaw or accidentally swallowing something you shouldn’t.

If you’re guilty of any of these bad habits, learn how to break them here: https://rwl.io/32ZmVpd

February is Black History Month! As the field of dentistry progresses, let’s acknowledge some Black trailblazers who were crucial in the advancement of dental practices.
🦷 Ida Gray Nelson was the first African American woman dentist, receiving her degree in 1890 and opening her own practice in Cincinnati, Ohio.
🦷 Robert Tanner Freeman was the first African American to receive a dental degree in the U.S in the year 1869.
🦷 George Grant was the second African American to acquire his dental degree. He treated patients with cleft palates and developed a prosthesis to help patients speak properly.
Black Americans continue to break barriers, create change, and lead the charge for equality, in both the field of dentistry and beyond!
