Our programs provide pathways to careers in healthcare along with intensive and comprehensive, educational employment and mentoring opportunities. In collaboration with other DFCI departments, we develop and deliver learning experiences for both adults and youth in order to fill the pipeline to allied health, research and healthcare administration careers with well prepared, highly skilled, engage
d and diverse candidates from our local communities. Please read on to discover more about each program:
• Student Training Programs: In an effort to “grow our own,” Workforce Development identifies, manages and coordinates initiatives to introduce, expose and develop the next generation of healthcare professionals through our summer jobs programs, school-year internship programs, and job shadow experiences. We serve students from three Boston Public Schools: the Madison Park Technical Vocational High School, John D. O’Bryant School of Math & Science, and Fenway High School.
• Adult Development Programs: Primarily serving front-line and entry level staff, Workforce Development manages initiatives and facilitates curriculum to support the acquiring of and/or improving of the necessary skills and knowledge to advance one’s career. Curriculum offerings include School At Work® and Pre College Math and English. Other services include career advising and academic coaching.
• Community Engagement: Identify opportunities to create, sustain and further enhance DFCI’s visibility within the Boston community.
