What is considered our connective tissue?

👉🏼 tendon

👉🏼 adipose tissue

Old video of me working big toe mobility with the man .

Big toe extension is extremely important as it should be the last part of the foot leaving the ground when we walk and run. If we don’t have enough active extension, and no mobility, the load with be transferred up the chain in a dysfunctional pattern to every other joint above it.

Fun self assessment:
While standing, try to lift each big toe (keeping the little toes down) and see how high you can lift it and if it’s the same on both sides.

Meet Stephen,

Stephen is completely blind and has been having hip and back pain during his daily walks. Working internal hip joint control has done the following for him:
•gotten rid of his hip and back pain
•increased his bodily awareness and control (which for a blind person is everything)
•has allowed him to play more with his grandkids
•built strength in his hips which will decrease the likelihood of him falling.

Flexibility: the ability to passively move a joint through range of motion.

Mobility: the ability to CONTROL your joint through its range of motion.

Many people either think they are the same or don’t truly know the difference. Can you guess when injury occurs?….

An injury occurs when the applied load/stress exceeds the load bearing capacity of the tissue. Aka, when you have flexibility without proper mobility.

Working hip mobility with pro surfer to help improve her hip joint function while surfing and to help decrease her post-surf soreness.

Becca is recovering from a surfing injury and is training to gain back more hip and low back control.

Pain at the base of your neck!?

Grab a band, any band. Pull, retract chin, and extend head and neck back. Repeat 10-20x.

This is an excellent DECOMPRESSION exercise for your cervical spine.
