IEDLI is held once a year over a one week period in a different city each year. Four interactive courses are offered consisting of group work, seminars, workshops, and more. Created and taught by Harvard Medical School faculty and other international experts, the IEDLI program will challenge the way you think about the problems facing your Emergency Department. You will explore leadership topics t

Introducing our vCOP Subject Matter Expert for June's session on "Palliative Care in the Emergency Department":

Dr. Kei Ouchi is a clinician‑scientist and emergency physician at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and an Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School. Dual‑board certified in Emergency and Internal Medicine, his research bridges emergency medicine, palliative care, and transitional care to improve patient‑centered care for seriously ill older adults.

On World Health Day, the need for timely, accessible emergency care feels more urgent than ever. From climate-driven disasters to strained health systems and growing inequities, emergency medical care remains not just essential—it’s a fundamental human right.

Clinicians, policymakers, and innovators all have a role to play in strengthening emergency response—from expanding pre-hospital care and integrating new technologies to advancing research and addressing gaps in access.

The question for today isn’t if we can improve emergency care—it’s how fast we can do it, and who we’re still leaving behind.

What actions can we take—individually and collectively—to drive more equitable emergency care?
