Why It Is Important NOT to Skip Your Physical Therapy After a Car Accident
As you may know, after a car accident the road to recovery can be a long journey. During this process, your doctor will work with you to determine the best course of action and may recommend physical therapy as part of your treatment plan.
Physical therapy can speed recovery, lower your pain, increase mobility, or rebuild strength after injury or trauma. It can also help prevent future complications or secondary injuries from arising.
But, insurance companies also rely heavily on physical therapy records to determine “how hurt” they consider you. If an adjuster sees that you are skipping therapy appointments, you may be accused of not really being hurt.
Additionally, when you attend physical therapy, the clinic will document how much pain you are feeling, your limitations, and how long it takes you to recover. These records are important later in your case when it comes time to negotiate a settlement with the adjuster or present evidence in a deposition or trial.
