A powerful reminder from a dad who listened.

His 14-year-old daughter held up a mirror to his missteps and showed how his frustration dimmed an act of love. He chose humility over ego, and in doing so, showed what real strength looks like.

True parental strength isn’t being flawless. It’s honoring our children when they call us to be better. How we receive correction shapes more than a moment. It shapes generations.

Today is International Overdose Awareness Day, 💜

a day to remember those we’ve lost to overdose and to affirm support for those still fighting. 🙏 This year, tens of thousands of families across the country will light a candle in memory of someone gone too soon. Every statistic we hear – over 100,000 overdose deaths in the U.S. last year represents a son or daughter, a father or mother, a friend whose absence is deeply felt.

We carry their memories in our hearts.

At Fathers’ UpLift, we see firsthand how addiction can impact fathers and families, and we also see the incredible strength and courage of those pursuing recovery. To anyone struggling in silence: you are not alone, and help is available. On this day, let’s break the stigma together. Talk about it, support one another, and remember that every life lost is one too many.

Take action – visit our website for a list of recovery support resources and ways you can help fight the overdose epidemic.

If you have a loved one to honor, feel free to share their first name in the comments with a 💜 –
We will keep them in our thoughts.

Together, let’s commit to a future with Zero OD deaths.

be the safe place. listen first. say “i’m here.”
their feelings aren’t a flaw. they’re a strength.

spoiler alert: boys don’t need “tough love.”
they need hugs, kisses, validated feelings, and accepted tears.
sons deserve the soft side of dad just as much as daughters do.

This is what generational healing looks like. A father and son sat down to breathe, to release old emotions and unspoken pain, and to let go of past trauma. 🧘🏽‍♂️

Today was about peace. It was about forgiveness. It was about breaking cycles so the next generation gets a new story. 🤝🏽

If you have never meditated with a parent or loved one, try it. Healing does not have to happen alone.

At Fathers’ UpLift, we stand with dads who are doing the inner work for their families.

• Tag a dad who would try this.
• Share to encourage someone’s healing.

Today is our Overdose Awareness Day event.

🤝 Join us this evening (Aug 27) at 4:00 PM at Second Church’s side yard in Dorchester as we come together to remember and heal. We’ll honor those we've lost to overdose through a moment of silence and a symbolic candle lighting 🕯️. We’ll also celebrate those in recovery, recognizing the brave dads and community members who are fighting for better futures – you inspire us! There will be recovery resource tables, Narcan training on-site, and supportive counselors to talk to if you need someone to listen. This is a family-friendly gathering; kids are welcome and will have a safe space to draw or write messages of hope. On this day of awareness, let’s break the stigma around addiction and show that our community stands together. You are not alone.

All are welcome – details on our website. It’s free to attend (registration encouraged but not required). Even if you can’t join in person, take a moment today to reach out to someone who might be struggling. Sometimes a simple “I’m here for you” can save a life.
