ā€œThank you, Seattle.ā€ ā˜”ļøā˜€ļøšŸ’š

The last time I was here was nearly 30 years ago.
Back when you could walk into buy a tumbler, and theyā€™d fill it with whatever coffee you wanted.

This trip felt a little different.

- A weekend of rare Seattle sunshine.
- Celebrating my old colleagueā€™s 50th birthday at ā€œTREVCHELLAā€ complete with live band rock-a-oke.
- Stopping by the original Starbucks to grab my little sister a special ā€œPikeā€™s Placeā€ mug for her collection.
- Coffee dates with my not-so-little niece at the ā€œventanitaā€ right next to the hotel.

And somewhere in between all thatā€¦
we grabbed a ā€œWā€ too.

Funny how life works.

You think youā€™re traveling for work.
Then suddenly youā€™re collecting moments.
Family. Friendship. Laughter. Coffee. Rain that never came.
It seems like .the.coyote is really becoming the unofficial good luck charm of the on and off the pitch!

Grateful for the (beautiful) game.
But even more grateful for everything around it.

Spend the sunset walking around downtown Seattle on a cool but clear spring/summer day.

Saw familiar things, as well as sights that were completely brand new to me.

Grateful for the best weather one could ever ask and hope for in the Emerald City.šŸ™šŸ½

I had 1 hour at Embassy Day in DCā€¦so I went straight to the one that matters most šŸ‡µšŸ‡­

The Philippines isnā€™t just where Iā€™m from.
Itā€™s how I move.
Itā€™s how I show up.

The music. The food. The energy.
Felt like homeā€¦in the middle of DC (although they didnā€™t let me use the šŸš½ inside the embassy!šŸ˜¤)

And then just like thatā€”
Peru šŸ‡µšŸ‡Ŗ
Trinidad & Tobago šŸ‡¹šŸ‡¹

Different cultures. Same soul. Same block.
Connection doesnā€™t need translation.

1 hour.
3 countries.
A full reminder of where I am physically and spiritually.

No plan or agenda. Just a young introducing himself on the way in while I was on my way out.āš¾ļø

But moments like that? They echo.

Fast forward a decadeā€¦
That same ā€œquick helloā€ turned into real mentorship, a real friendship.

This is what representation does.

When you see someone who looks like you, moves like you, dreams like youā€” you donā€™t just get inspired, you step forward.ā­ļø

Itā€™s moments like this that make me proud of starting in 2013.

Learn. Grow. Pass it on.

Especially during Month, Iā€™m reminded:
we donā€™t just climbā€”we reach back.

Because mentorship isnā€™t a title.
