Join us Tuesday, September 23 from 12–1pm ET for the launch of the Doula Enrollment Toolkits: Your Roadmap to Becoming a Medicaid Provider in Massachusetts — hosted by the Center for Black Maternal Health & Reproductive Justice and Accompany Doula Care.

I’m honored to be one of two Community Advisory Board (CAB) members speaking on tomorrow’s panel—and we'll speak more about - what we built, why it matters, and how doulas can finally get enrolled and our experience as CAB members throughout this process.

As the founder of HUED Mamas Co., this work sits at the intersection of advocacy, systems, and culturally rooted fertility care.

Community-based doulas have long served families with care, cultural wisdom, and without gatekeeping.

We don’t need saving.
We need systems that respect and invest in what’s already working.

For generations, Black, Indigenous, and communities of color have led this work—
not for profit, but out of love and NECESSITY.

Attempts to standardize or commercialize doula care must not come at the expense of the people and practices who built the foundation.

We’ve been leading.
We’re still here.
And we are not for sale.

Community-based doula orgs have held generations
with care, cultural wisdom, and no gatekeeping.

Don’t try to erase the legacy.
Don’t try to erase the love.
Don’t try to erase the Black, Indigenous, and people of color who birthed this movement from love and a NECESSITY, not profit.

Why We Say:

Community-based doulas are not new.

We are not a trend.

We are not an unregulated workforce waiting to be “fixed” by a primarily white-led institution.

We are the lineage.

We are the ones who carried this work long before any entity wanted to define our scope of work.

And now, an organization wants to crown itself the national authority—charging doulas thousands, ignoring culture, and erasing those already doing the work.

This is not equity. It’s extraction.

We’re launching a national campaign to protect doula care rooted in culture, resistance, and community.

Not in compliance. Not in capitalism. Not in control.
