Is your "Paddy’s Day" spirit stronger than your wrist? 🇮🇪🍺

We know the feeling! If carrying those festive pints has your hands or wrists feeling less than lucky, it might be time to see a specialist. We are proud to have Rebecca Wolongevicz, MS, OTR/L, CHT, on our team at Elliott Physical Therapy in Hanover.

As a Certified Hand Therapist and Occupational Therapist, Rebecca specializes in the complex mechanics from your fingertips to your shoulder. And let’s be honest—after the Blizzard of ’26 dumped 3+ feet of snow on the South Shore, most of our hands and shoulders are feeling the "shoveling struggle." ❄️🏠

Why see a CHT like Rebecca?

🟢 Specialized Expertise: Hand therapy is medicine for everything from ligament strains to post-op recovery.

🟢 Blizzard Recovery: If shoveling that mountain of snow left you with tingling, numbness, or shoulder pain, Rebecca can create a custom plan to get you back to 100%.

🟢 Functional Goals: We focus on getting you back to the activities you love (even if that’s just holding a coffee—or a pint! 😉).

Don't just push through the pain! Whether it was the snow or the celebration that got you, Rebecca is ready to help.

📍 Visit us in Hanover or call 781-347-3107 to schedule your appointment today!

What does crossing the finish line look like for you?

Is it crushing a sub-4-hour goal, or is it about the triumph of finishing your first 26.2 no matter what the clock says?

Your training plan should be as unique as your thumbprint. To reach your specific goal, you need a roadmap that aligns with:

✅ Your Life: Balancing miles with your schedule: work, family and everything else.
✅ Your Abilities: Respecting your current fitness while pushing for growth.
✅ Your Commitment: Finding the “sweet spot” of training volume you can actually stick to.

‘Winging it’ is the fastest way to hit a wall (and very likely, an injury).

At Elliott PT, we help you bridge the gap between “I want to do this” and “I just did this.”🏅

"What is actually happening to my body?"

🔍 It’s a question many women ask as they enter their 40s and 50s, but few get the answers they need.

Our own Kristie Averill, PT, is helping women navigate this milestone with science-backed strategies.

Menopause isn't just a single event; it’s a systemic shift. Declining estrogen and progesterone levels can impact everything from your cholesterol levels to joint stiffness and sleep patterns.

Why Physical Therapy for Menopause? Research shows that Exercise is Medicine. A realistic movement strategy can:
✅ Reduce the frequency of hot flashes.
✅ Improve mood and sleep quality.
✅ Maintain muscle mass and metabolic health.

You aren’t alone in this transition—the Elliott PT team is here to bridge the gap.

Join us at our Thriving Through the Transition talk on Thursday, February 26th at 630PM @ Fitness Unlimited to learn more! The event is free and spots will fill up quickly. Click here to sign-up!

Seeing all these smiling faces in one room reminds us why we do what we do. We are so excited for the new programs, community outreach, and educational partnerships we have planned for this year.

New shoes = New PR? Maybe… if they’re the right ones! 👟

That’s right, we’re talking gear. Whether you have a higher arch (supination) or a lower arch (pronation), the “perfect” shoe is the one that balances your natural foot shape. This is one of the easiest ways to prevent common training injuries!

We love helping our runners find their “sole mate.” Stop by for a gait analysis so we can analyze your stride! Once we know what you need, we’ll send you over to our local sneaker experts to find your perfect fit.

Some of our trusted friends and neighbors are:
🏃🏽 (well established partners that are a typical go-to)
🏃🏽 (a few great local shops with full shoe fitting process as well)
🏃🏽 (a ton of awesome health and performance tests for athletes, including shoe analysis)

Comment below, if you’re interested in a custom gait analysis with our team! 🤩

Getting ready to conquer 26.2 miles in 2026? 🏃‍♀️

If you’re out crushing miles on the streets or at a local park, we have one word for you: SLOW.

It sounds counterintuitive, but if you want to cross that finish line on Boylston Street feeling strong, you need to master the art of the "conversational pace." Here’s why your friendly neighborhood PTs at Elliott want you to dial it back:

Why Slow = Pro 🧠
Build Your Armor: Running at a slower pace early in your training gives your muscles and tendons the time they actually need to adapt to the impact.

Fuel Efficiency: It teaches your body to burn fat for fuel more efficiently—which is a total game-changer when you hit the dreaded "wall" late in the race.

Cardiac Gains: You’re stimulating vital heart adaptations that only happen when you aren't redlining it.

The "Vibe Check" Test 🗣️
How do you know if you're going slow enough? If you can’t gossip with your running buddy about the latest friend-group drama without gasping for air, you’re going too fast.

Ideally, you want to stay in Zone 2 (about 60-70% of your max heart rate). If you can hold a full conversation, you’re doing it right!

This is just the beginning! We’ll be sharing more expert tips in our Marathon Training Series to make sure everyone prepping for the Boston Marathon and beyond in 2026 stays injury-free and ready to rock.

What's your favorite route for a "conversational" long run? Let us know in the comments! 👇
