When you buy an inaccessible tool, you don't just buy a product.

You buy the accessibility problem that comes with it.

That's the mindset driving how Angela Jackson of the University of South Dakota approaches vendor evaluation. She asks hard questions up front, reviews documentation critically, and makes sure accessibility carries real weight in the final decision.

Not a checkbox; a requirement.

The result is fewer costly retrofits and students who are protected from day one.

Traditional dubbing takes weeks. AI dubbing takes days.

The difference isn't just speed. It's the entire workflow: upload, transcribe, translate, synthesize, review, deliver. Done. With captions included.

Human reviewers are still in the loop, checking timing, audio quality, and translation accuracy. You get AI efficiency without sacrificing quality.

Boston Tech Week is almost here.

In two weeks (Tuesday, May 26), we're hosting "Shipping with Claude", an evening for engineering and GTM leaders who are done talking about AI and ready to see it in production.

Live demos from teams who deployed last week. No decks, no pilots, no roadmaps.

Spaces are filling up fast. If you're leading an engineering or GTM team, register today to ensure you don't miss out!

Accessibility compliance isn't a project with a finish line.

As long as your institution is creating content, the work continues.

That's the core challenge for large universities: you might have thousands of people producing content on behalf of the institution. No central team, no matter how talented, can review all of it.

The only way it scales is by embedding accessibility into the tools, systems, and workflows that everyone already uses.

This clip features Kyle Shachmut, Senior Director of Digital Accessibility at Harvard, from our webinar, "You Ask, Experts Answer: A Community Q&A on ADA Title II Compliance." Link to the full recording in the comments.

3Play Media is heading to London next week!

Co-CEO Josh Miller and CTO Dan Caddigan will be at GC-SC Future Studio London on May 5-6, joining two panels and two workshops built around one of the most talked-about topics in media right now: AI dubbing.

They'll be on the "Process and the Possibility" industry conversation and the "Dub or No Dub" interactive gameshow, plus leading workshops on AI dubbing quality and navigating the real-world complexities of bringing this service to life.

If you're attending, don't leave without connecting!

AI dubbing has gone from novelty to production-ready in under two years.

And it's not just about cost; it's about speed: one video, 30 languages, in hours instead of weeks.

The smartest enterprise teams aren't choosing AI or traditional; they're using both. AI handles the volume, humans handle the quality check.

The result: global reach without blowing your localization budget.

Full breakdown of AI vs. traditional dubbing is in the comments.

Tomorrow at 2 PM ET, four accessibility leaders from Harvard, University of Florida, Utah State, and University of South Dakota are taking your questions live.

If you've been wondering things like:

"How do we prioritize when we can't do everything at once?"

"What does a defensible compliance strategy actually look like?"

"How do other institutions handle legacy video archives?"

This is the room to ask.

For years, going global wasn't really an option for most video content teams.

Not because the audience wasn't there, but because traditional dubbing cost $50–$200 per minute, took weeks per language, and had to be done one language at a time.

So companies picked one or two markets and called it a day.

AI dubbing changes what's possible. The same video can now be dubbed into dozens of languages simultaneously, with the original speaker's voice preserved in each one, at a fraction of the cost.

We broke down exactly how the technology works, what to look for in a platform, and how to get started. Link in the comments!

The ADA Title II deadline just got extended; here's what that actually means.

On April 20, 2026, the DOJ published an Interim Final Rule pushing both compliance dates back by one year. Public entities with populations of 50,000+ now have until April 26, 2027, while smaller entities and special districts have until April 26, 2028.

What didn't change: the 2024 rule, the WCAG 2.1 Level AA standard, and your organization's underlying legal obligations under Title II, Title III, and Section 504.

If your program is already scoped and mid-execution, unwinding that momentum is expensive in ways that rarely show up on a budget line. Procurement cycles restart, vendors get redirected, and institutional knowledge evaporates when teams get reassigned.

Treat the new deadline as the latest date you'll finish, not the date you'll start.

Only a few more days to visit us at NAB!

It's been a great week talking with media teams about localization, and what it actually takes to make content land in new markets, not just reach them.

If you haven't stopped by yet, we're running a live dubbing demo at the booth (W2667). Worth seeing if you're thinking about scaling your localization workflow.

Come find us before we pack up, or grab a time with us at the link in the comments.
