Always listen to nurses!

The American College of Nurse-Midwives affirms acetaminophen, also commonly known as Tylenol, remains a safe and effective option for relieving pain and reducing fever during pregnancy when used as directed. Ongoing research and expert reviews continue to support its appropriate use, and pregnant individuals can feel confident using it in consultation with their midwife or other healthcare provider.

To all pregnant people: Tylenol, the pain medication and fever reducer approved for pregnant people does not cause autism. Talk to your health care provider. Do not listen to non-medical professionals who are peddling unscientific lies and standing steadfast in misogyny.

Very excited to attend this workshop via zoom. A lot of my work involves getting oral histories, not just mental health histories, but family histories. This is also relevant to my dissertation, tentatively titled: Untold Stories: Parenting as a Pathway for Healing Intergenerational Immigration Trauma and Reclaiming Cultural Identity for 2nd Generation Immigrant Families.

As someone who works in parental mental health, this is crucial. Some families will be able to manage the 145% price increase. Some won’t. Parents are resourceful — they will share or get hand me downs or go to garage sales. But did you know that car seats expire? There’s no way to know for sure that the car seat hasn’t been in an accident, and even if it looks fine, it could be structurally compromised.

Had the opportunity to read The Guilt Pill by , hosted by the . It’s an entertaining book that tackles the pressures of being an entrepreneurial, CEO woman, a working mother, a co-parent, and an immigrant daughter. I wouldn’t recommend it for parents currently pregnant or in the postpartum year, as it may be too much (and how many people can read postpartum???) but those a few years out may like the fact that they aren’t alone in the guilt and seeming impossibility of it all the tasks new moms are challenged by. Saumya also said something critical: we can only go as far as our systems support us — family leave, parental leave for non-birthing parents, social support networks, and childcare.

Marian Tompson, founder of has resigned. It’s sad that she is ending her time this way, but there is no place for discrimination in lactation care or ANY care.

I want to thank my clients for seeing me as human today, and for asking how I’m doing. I want to thank them for looking at their babies, for their vows to protect their bodies, to protect their dignity, to protect their planet, to raise them as good citizens who use their voices. Thank you for giving me hope today.
