What is the pelvic floor?

Swipe to learn more—and then read on to understand why pelvic floor issues can often go unnoticed.

When your neck feels tight, you might instinctively stretch or schedule a massage—you recognize the discomfort and know how to respond. But when it comes to the pelvic floor, the signs are often quieter, and easier to dismiss.

Symptoms like urinary urgency, constipation, or discomfort during intimacy may not seem connected—but they often are. Because these changes tend to come on gradually, it’s common for pelvic floor dysfunction to go unrecognized for months, or even years.

Wondering if your symptoms could be related to your pelvic floor?

You don’t have to navigate it alone. We’re here to listen, guide, and help you feel better.

We’re honored to walk alongside our clients in their healing journeys—because when you feel your best, it’s deeply felt by all of us.

This recent testimonial includes a kind mention of Melissa and Kristin, and we’re so grateful for the trust behind every word shared.

When someone speaks openly about their pelvic health experience, it can be a powerful source of encouragement—especially for those who feel unsure or vulnerable about taking the first step.

Pelvic health is deeply personal. We believe that care should feel safe, respectful, and grounded in understanding.

If you’re wondering whether pelvic floor therapy might be right for you, we’re here to help and always happy to talk with you.

Noticing changes in your digestion this summer?

You’re not alone. Shifts in temperature, travel, and daily routines can all impact your gut — and for many, that means constipation.

Here’s why it happens (and how to gently support your digestion during the warmer months):

🌱 Hydration matters more than you think
Hot weather, outdoor activity, and increased sweating can lead to dehydration—one of the most common causes of constipation. Sipping water consistently throughout the day helps keep digestion moving with ease.

🌱 Keep moving—gently
Physical activity supports bowel regularity, but high heat can make movement feel more challenging. Try walking in the early morning, stretching indoors, or swimming to stay active without overexertion.

🌱 Fiber is your digestive ally
Summer eating habits often shift toward convenience foods, which can mean less fiber. Adding fresh fruits, veggies, and whole grains to your meals supports regularity and overall gut health.

Constipation doesn’t have to be your summer story. If you’re looking for more support, we’re here to help you feel more at ease in your body — season after season.

Feeling good doesn’t have an expiration date. Let’s start now. ✨

Last month, I had the privilege of speaking at the University Club of Boston about perimenopause and menopause—an inspiring reminder that it’s never too late to feel more at home in your body.

At Wellest, we offer dedicated support for this life stage, combining pelvic floor therapy with Menopausal Hormone Therapy (MHT) to provide care that is holistic, compassionate, and rooted in expertise.

👩‍🍼Calling all soon to be postpartum mamas!
SWIPE ➡️ to see our tips for getting through that first bowel movement and how it will help your pelvic floor!

We get it, going to the bathroom the first time after birth can be SCARY! No matter how your birthing experience went, we’ve got you covered with our best tips!

1️⃣Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! The most important part of getting your digestive system running is to make sure you have great water intake - it helps everything run smoother!

2️⃣A squatty potty or a stool can be a great addition to your bathroom routine. It relieves stress on your pelvic floor, relaxes your muscles, and helps reduce straining. Ask your hospital or birth center if they have something you can use!

3️⃣For both c-section and va**nal births, we recommend providing support to the birthing locations. For c-sections, this is by holding a pillow over your incision and for va**nal births, gently placing your hand on your va**na. (Pro tip: take some rubber gloves from the hospital😉)The support will help alleviate pressure, strain, and may even help you relax!

4️⃣As always, we recommend belly breathing to help lengthen your pelvic floor, to help you relax, and to soften your muscles. Do your best to avoid holding your breath!

Looking for more postpartum pelvic floor advice? Reach out, we’d love to help!
