Reflexology is based on the principle that your feet, hands and ears are mini-maps of your entire body. Reflexology can help restore and maintain balance in your body through specific touch techniques applied to the reflexes on your feet, hands and ears which correspond to glands, organs and all other body parts.

So very interesting...

I thought I’d give you a Reflexologists perspective on the news article I shared yesterday, by giving you some of my insights from the photos included in the article.

Here’s another link to it.

https://7news.com.au/lifestyle/health-wellbeing/how-an-early-symptom-of-coronavirus-could-show-up-on-your-feet-c-973110

“A team of Spanish experts is investigating after cases showed COVID-19 sufferers could be identified early through lesions to their feet.”

Please remember that Reflexology is a complimentary therapy, and is not intended as a replacement for medical care. It also never claims to diagnose.

These are my interpretations as a professional reflexologist, based on the lesions that have appeared on the feet in the photos from people with Covid-19.

The big toe is the reflex area for the head, with the brain being reflected in the top portion of this toe. The tips of all the other toes are also reflexes for the brain. Symptoms of Covid 19 relating to the head are headaches. Interesting that there are lessons on the big toe, and enflamed areas on the tips of the 2nd toes.

The ball of the foot reflects the chest area (lungs) of the human body. Symptoms of Covid 19 relating to the chest area are difficulty breathing and a cough. Interesting that there are spots on this area, and that it is yellowish in skin tone compared to the rest of the person’s foot. Yellow in reflexology terms may indicate congestion, or toxins. This may in this instance be due to the Covid 19 virus and its symptom of high fever.

You may note that some of the toes are also quite pale, indicating the lack of oxygen circulating to them.

Reflexologists see bodily symptoms reflected on the feet all the time, so it comes as no surprise to me that the feet would be displaying symptoms of this virus in these areas.

There are a number of other noteworthy things that I saw, but I thought I’d just leave you with these main ones.

I am very grateful that the images of these symptoms were shared by the Spanish General Council of Official Podiatrist Colleges. Soooo much to learn from this!

Irritating lower back pain can be caused by something as simple as bending down to pick something up the wrong way, sitting or standing too much, or sleeping in an awkward position - all of which can color your day with discomfort and pain. However, if you don't add a specific lower back program into your routine to address it, the pain will continue to be triggered and worsened by everyday movements.

Reflexology is an alternative therapy where the thumb and fingers are used to apply pressure to reflex points on the feet, hands or ears that are thought to correspond with organs and glands in the body.

Do you know the bones in your feet?

The foot is an intricate part of the body, consisting of 26 bones, 33 joints, 107 ligaments, and 19 muscles.

The bones fall into three groups: the tarsal bones, metatarsal bones, and phalanges.

Tarsal bones:
The tarsal bones are a group of seven bones that make up the rear section of the foot.

Tarsal bones include:

The talus, or ankle bone: The talus is the bone at the top of the foot. It connects with the tibia and fibula bones of the lower leg.

The calcaneus, or heel bone: The calcaneus is largest of the tarsal bones. It sits below the talus and plays an essential role in supporting body weight.

The tarsals: These five bones form the arch of the midfoot. They are the medial, intermediate, and lateral cuneiforms, the cuboid, and the navicular.

Metatarsal bones:
The metatarsal bones are a group of five tubular bones in the middle of the foot. They connect to the tarsal bones and the phalanges.

The metatarsals sit in a row, and are numbered one to five. The first one sits closest to the arch of the foot, and number five sits at the outer edge of the foot.

Phalanges:
The phalanges are the bones in the toes. The second to fifth toes each contain three phalanges.

The big toe or hallux contains only two phalanges, which are proximal and distal.

There you go, now you know all the bones in your feet!
