The hip abductors are key to hip stability and mobility. They're also chronically stiff and immobile in many people. Keeping them mobile and pliable is important for preventing hip degeneration and avoiding hip replacement. To that end, strengthening them is more important than stretching them. Here are some good exercises to get you started. https://bdme.ch/C90L

Be still and know.

The man who taught me zen shiatsu was a zen priest and shinto shaman. He called this work "interpersonal meditation". If you have had a session with me it is likely you know what this means.

Touch is crucial to living a happy, healthy, vibrant life, which is our birthright. Staying ‘in touch’ with ourselves, staying connected with our body, with our experience, with others and with the world around us takes conscious effort and practice, and sometimes a little help. In our modern fast paced, consumption and scarcity based, technologically driven, media saturated and attention dispersing culture it is increasingly difficult find quiet and peaceful time for the truly important things in our life- to restore balance, health and well-being for ourselves so that we can “be there” for others. Allow me to accompany you on your journey back to yourself and your deepest nature- joyful, compassionate, caring Being.

Taking pre-orders for these great hot/cold packs! Great for treating sore muscles, injuries, promoting circulation, decreasing tension and the effects of stress. Use it to warm your feet, bed or even your pet's bed. It's versatile as a hot AND cold pack. Use it out of the freezer for lasting cold on sprains, bruises and to help reduce swelling. I'm only making about a dozen so let me know if you would like to reserve one. May 2021 be a year of health and wellness!

The impact of the position of the head on the functioning of the human body: a 2020 systematic review
The head is an important element of the biokinetic chain. Under physiological conditions, it should extend along the midline of the body. Due to its location and the fact that it constitutes approx. 6% of the total body weight, many authors believe it has a significant impact on its functioning. The aim of this study was to conduct a systematic literature search and to synthesize the evidence of the impact of the head posture on the functioning of the human body.

A systematic review was conducted within 3 databases: PubMed, Medline OVID, and Ebsco, using the following terms: "forward head," "posture", "position," and "neck." For the analysis, scientific articles published after 2013 were selected. A total of 16 studies matched the inclusion criteria of this systematic review.

Their results have proven that the position of the head has a significant effect on the human body. Research findings show that abnormal head position changes affect muscle activity, proprioception, the pattern of breathing and neck pain. This is the first systematic review of the relationship between the head posture, and the functioning of the human body. The results of this study seem to be promising if used in therapeutic practice.

Hello,

I wanted to write and give you an update on the status of my massage and bodywork practice in light of COVID-19. At this time, the Stay At Home order remains in place and as a Stage 3 (high risk) business, I am not yet authorized to open and resume massage services. I am very sorry to have to turn away appointments at this time. However I will continue to wait until it's safe to resume, for both you and I. I certainly miss practicing and participating in your health and well-being- Body, Soul and Spirit.

I also wanted to let you know that I am recovering from a serious mountain biking accident that occurred in early April, leaving me with two fractured lumbar vertebrae. I am healing as well as might be anticipated. This type of injury is slow to heal and I am making small increments of progress daily. I hope to be back to work, at least in a limited capacity, around the time the Shelter in Place order is modified for Stage 3 re-opening.

When I reopen some aspects of how I practice will be different. I am working closely with my office colleague to implement even more rigorous safety and hygiene practices in line with the latest scientific standards for my profession. I will let you know prior to your first appointment exactly what to expect. Give that around half of COVID-19 cases are asymptomatic I am urgently asking you to cancel any scheduled appointment even if you are experiencing only symptoms of sore throat, dry (unproductive) cough, difficulty breathing or shortness of breath, fever, tiredness, headache or stomach ache. If you are sick or think you might be sick cancel your appointment. I’ve relaxed my 24 hour cancellation policy for anyone canceling due to having any of these symptoms.Let’s continue to do what we are being called to do to protect our health and that of others.

I would like to thank those of you who have purchased gift certificates during the time my practice has been closed. That income has been very helpful to me in weathering this difficult financial time. I appreciate your generosity and good faith.

How are you all doing? I have been doing my utmost to make the best of these unusual circumstances, focusing deeply on my own healing, doing the service work I am still able to do and continuing with the Supported Living work I do with my differently-abled clients. I have also been afforded the opportunity to provide online trainings on COVID-19, universal precautions and other topics for my fellow essential healthcare colleagues. I have also been able to continue my ongoing efforts to teach and grow the Zen temple I founded last year. Staying connected with others, albeit virtually, has been very important in my own health and well-being. Having said that I am really looking forward to being literally back in touch with you when the time is right and circumstances allow.

In the meantime, please reach out to let me know how you're doing. I have heard from some of you how much you need a massage and can say that I've never needed a massage myself more than now! I look forward to seeing you again soon.

In health and wellness,

Jeffrey
