The Line of Attitude is an imaginary line and it's about how we live our lives π
The basic premis is people who live/function/operate above the line are Accountable, take Responsibility and Ownership.
For people who function/operate below the line it's more about Blame, Excuses, Denial.
I read about this many years ago from a guy called Brad Sugars. It really resonated with me and has stuck ever since.
I just saw two examples of it today and thought I'd share them with you.
The first was from a client who attended our seminar, has since smoked and subsequently reached out for help.
Naturally we said we're so sorry to hear that and let's book you into a free shorter booster session. That'll do the trick πͺ
Their response was "Don't be sorry - totally my brain!! π§ " - taking full responsibility and being accountable for their actions.
The opposite is a client who's attended quite a few sessions now. They stop for a period of time but eventually go back to smoking so something isn't quite gelling for them. It's our job to help them find out why π€
We offer booster sessions for clients, which are included and unlimited for the first 3 months of attending but it's not free forever.
This particular client has cancelled or failed to turn up on 13 different occasions, taking no responsibility or ownership of the problem, yet still blaming us that it hasn't worked for them.
There comes a point when they don't value our time or service and offering it for free isn't helping.
We love sharing success stories in our posts but the reality is not everyone is a success story π
I'm pretty confident our above the line client will successfully stop smoking after another session or two but sadly the other client will continue to smoke and blame us for their failure, even though they weren't committed enough to show up.
We'll give you all the help, support and guidance in the world but ultimately it's on you. Take ownership and responsibility and be accountable.
The thing about addiction is that even the most positive, happy, glass half full, successful people operate below the line - sadly, that's what addiction does to people βΉοΈπ€₯
Can you relate to this? Are you usually an Above the Line person but behave Below the Line when it comes to addiction?
