💥MYTH BUSTED: Turnout doesn’t start at your feet.

😖 If you’re gripping, forcing, or trying to “open” from the ankle… you’re actually setting yourself up for pain, not better technique.

🤯 True turnout comes from the deep hip rotators—tiny stabilizing muscles that create controlled, sustainable rotation (not forced rotation).

🔥 When dancers focus on turnout from the hip instead of over-rotating at the knee, ankle, or foot, technique improves AND injuries decrease.

Your hips are the powerhouse. Your feet are just along for the ride. 🩰

Pain doesn’t always mean progress. Feeling sore after class? That’s normal. Feeling sharp, persistent, or unusual pain? 🚨 That’s your body telling you to pause, modify, or get some professional guidance.

Take care of your body—it’s your most important instrument as a dancer 🎭 🎻💃

🤩 TRUTH: Strength training helps dancers move better, jump higher, and stay injury-free — not bulky.

💪🏼 Muscle tone = control

Strength = artistry 💃🏻

🩰 Start small: 2–3x per week of resistance work can make a huge difference.

MYTH BUSTER 🔥:

Static stretching ≠ a proper warm-up ❌

Static holds (like splits or seated hamstring stretches) actually tell your muscles to relax. A proper warm-up needs to include dynamic movement that preps your muscles and elevates your heart rate.

Before class, focus on:

💨 Dynamic movements
💪 Muscle activation
🔥 Increasing body temperature
🫀 Elevating your heart rate

Then save those long stretches for after class when your muscles are already warm!
