🌬️ I'm fascinated by the 2025 song “Anxiety," not for the music, but for the truth it names about our collective nervous system.
Most people aren’t “anxious sometimes,"
They’re living in chronic hypervigilance without realizing it!

A few lines say it all:
“Somebody’s watchin’ me…”
“Can’t shake it off of me…”

Here’s what I see through the lenses of mental fitness + trauma-informed yoga:
1️⃣ Anxiety isn’t episodic anymore — it’s atmospheric.
The survival brain is always scanning, even when life is safe.
2️⃣ We feel symptoms, not sensations.
When breath collapses, awareness collapses with it.
3️⃣ We perform our lives instead of inhabiting them.
So the nervous system never gets off duty.
4️⃣ When anxiety becomes identity, transformation gets blocked.
5️⃣ Avoiding it keeps us stuck.
Working through it is the doorway back to self-leadership.

The parallel for me is that this is the heart of my work:
A body that feels safe.
A mind that chooses presence over sabotage.
A nervous system that knows how to come home.

If anxiety is your background soundtrack,
you’re not broken.
Your system is asking for a new way of being.
If anxiety weren't the default, what would life feel like for you?

Finally releasing a one hour tutorial video I made for people to learn this beautiful healing bodywork art no matter your experience level from the comfort of your own home 😍
I made it so long ago that I forgot about ever marketing it. Classic over-doer thing in me, and maybe even my own self-doubt mixed in 🙏🏻
Well I'm about to head out to Thailand and couldn't be more excited to learn more and infuse it into my work and offerings. Here's a tutorial that incorporates the teachings that were brought to me. Next expect some of the teachings I bring back 🥹
on Venmo 🫶🏻

Most people eat holiday food like they're embracing for battle, like it's all or nothing. With a mindset of "screw it I'll start over Monday," or "I shouldn't, but I will, and then I'll feel bad about it later."
Truth is both of these are survival states and both hijack your nervous system. Worse, both disconnect you from your body's actual truth.
My favorite secret: use the 80/20 rule consciously with eating… 80% of the time in alignment with what makes your body healthy and alive, then the other 20% of the time is complete freedom, joy, pleasure in food, and zero self-shame. That's not restriction, it's self leadership and it is sustainable.

This way, that dessert your grandma makes once a year, you get to actually enjoy. 🥹

A few more holiday-season upgrades I'd love to share from my latest newsletter:
• Pause before you eat to break the impulse cycle
• Bring 1–2 dishes your body loves, so you’re choosing from abundance
• Chew slowly, put your fork down, let your body talk
• Protein + fiber first at any meal to prevent a blood-sugar spike
• Protect tomorrow-you with hydration + a short walk or 3 rounds of air squats after eating

The Standard American Diet creates SAD energy, SAD thinking, and SAD sleep.
But swap in real food… and your whole system remembers how to shine ✨

If you want more holiday-season nourishment tips, the full newsletter is live, comment HOLIDAY and I’ll send it your way 🤓 happy Thanksgiving friends!

Most people don't believe me when I say this: I used to be the clumsiest person you could meet!
No dancer. No yogi. No bodyworker. Just pure awkward energy.
My mom even joked that I had "two left feet."
She wasn't wrong 😅

But everything changed the week I received several Thai bodywork sessions. It woke me up, to my body, my emotions, my truth.
Tears, breath, something finally clicked.
Now this is what I teach and share!
How touch, presence, and awareness can transform your entire life. 💓

What an evolution I've had since the days I was a marching band Drum Major and performed in the Macy's day parade's Thanksgiving band 🎶

If your body has been holding things you can't name, let's work with it.
I travel to Thailand for extended Thai Massage studies in mid December and until then I have 6 weeks of bodywork sessions available in Boulder and Baltimore when I visit family 🫶🏻
I'm just a message away from your next sesh ✨

What do you think of my transformation from 2009 to 2025? 🤓🙌🏻

Forget fancy hacks - the thing that helps improve my physical and mental health the most is free 🌬️

When someone asked what simple regular activity improves health, my answer was simply breathing intentionally. Seriously!
Not just the unconscious kind we all do when in auto pilot or the bustle of life, but the attentive kind -- by watching, guiding, letting the breath reshape the nervous system, we heal ourselves one breath at a time.
Breathwork is free medicine, a unifying factor amongst all humans, and those who practice it with presence tend to live with more health and satisfaction 🫶🏻

As pictured here, one form of breathwork I love is alternate nostril breathing, "Nadi Shodana." It brings your left (logic/data mind) and right (creative/empathetic mind) brain hemispheres into balance. When synced, the nervous system follows: stress melts, clarity rises, and presence deepens.
Try it out: inhale one nostril, exhale through the other, switch and repeat. Continue 2-5 minutes. Notice the shift and then drop a comment with what you find! 🙌🏻👇🏻

Hey friends 💜 it’s been a while since I’ve shared a life update here, and so much has been shifting that I wanted to bring you along for the ride 🌱

✈️ Thailand is finally on the horizon!!!
This winter I’ll be heading to Thailand for deep Thai Bodywork studies. Eight weeks of training, immersion, and growth… I’m beyond excited to soak it all in and bring new layers back to share here in Boulder. (And if you feel inspired to support my travels, my Venmo is 🙏 I’d so appreciate any contributions to this journey!)

🌸 New social media name, bigger vision.
If you’ve known me as , that chapter has officially expanded into . For me, life isn’t about half-yeses. It’s about saying YES to total health: vitality, creativity, love, movement, and the mental fitness that helps hold it all together.

🛼🎷 Play keeps me alive.
Rollerblades, alto saxophone (newly!), and singing — those are my new playgrounds outside of my work. They remind me that growth isn’t only about discipline, it’s about joy. I’m letting music and movement crack me open in new ways, and it feels so good.

💃 And speaking of movement… ZOUKADELIC is back!
I’m co-hosting this wild merger of Zouk + Ecstatic Dance on Oct 25 in Boulder. Imagine psychedelic beats, tribal rhythms, and community medicine on the dance floor. DJ Spice Traders is flying in again, and if you came last time, you know it was magic. If you didn’t, this is your chance to jump in - no experience necessary🌀🔥

🤲 Boulder Bodywork Lab.
For my bodywork practitioner friends — our next lab is happening Sunday, Oct 12. It’s a collaborative space where we trade techniques, learn from each other, and give/receive bodywork. If you’d like to join, message me and I’ll add you to the WhatsApp group for details.

🧠 Mental fitness is the thread tying it all together.
Whether I’m coaching, teaching, bodyworking, or dancing, it always comes back to one thing for me: catching the sneaky saboteurs in our minds. The ones that whisper doubts, push too hard, or pull us away from what matters. Once you see them, they lose their grip — and suddenly you’ve got choice, clarity, freedom.
If you’ve never taken the free Saboteur Assessment, I can’t recommend it enough. It’s on the PQ website @ positive intelligence . com.

👩‍💻 What’s next? I want your input.
This summer I hired an assistant (!!) so I can finally bring more of my projects to life. Some of the ideas brewing are:
Programs on holistic health integration (sleep, diet, movement, rest)
Women’s hormone health
Mental fitness for everyday life + leadership
Embodying your authentic voice
Deeper dives into Thai Bodywork + Yoga

👀 I’d love to hear from you: which of these would you be most excited to see me create next? Comment below or DM me — your feedback helps shape what comes alive. 👀

This season feels like one of integration for me — creatively, physically, spiritually. Thank you for being part of my journey. Truly, I couldn’t do this work without you all showing up in my life and community.

With so much gratitude,
Jess

I don't know who needs to hear this but,
Just sit with it.
That thing you're running from; drinking it away, smoking it away, using sugar or p**n to make it go away; it could be a deep emotion and something important might be there for you to feel.
So sit with it.
Be. It's okay to witness and accept yourself as you are. From there you can get anywhere -- it just has to start with feeling and acceptance.

You spend too much time trying to be 'better.' The best moments of your life? They're when you are laughing. Moving. Breathing slowly. Feeling the sun. Kissing someone fully.
So let go of the striving.
Get in your body. That’s where peace lives.

Presence is always the point.

🔥 The fastest way to stay stuck? Reject what you see in the mirror. Reject your reality. Reject your own emotions.

When you don’t name what you feel — when you shove it down or pretend it’s not there — it doesn’t go away. It just leaks out sideways and ends up running the show. You might numb the "good" emotions as well as the "bad" ones.

The great psychologist Carl Rogers said it best: “The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.”

Acceptance isn’t weakness. It’s power. It’s presence and awareness. It’s the only place you can actually take action from.

💭 Ever notice how the feelings you resist the most end up running the show? True or false? 🙋‍♂️ drop a comment below with your thoughts!

Ever notice yourself swallowing your words in meetings… or staying quiet when your chest is screaming to speak? Burying truth under "I'm fine?"
That tension in your throat, that knot in your stomach, those tight shoulders — that’s your body keeping score. It's something to listen to!

A while back I spoke on a podcast about Reclaiming Your Voice; it's not about yelling louder, it's about remembering you have a voice at all and actually it matters, a lot.
When you let it out, your whole body exhales. 💨 talk about tension relief...!
Curious if you would share, what's something you aren't saying? To yourself, to someone, ... it will be heard here 💞

If this strikes something in you, let's have a longer conversation. 🙏🏻💫

Also huge thank you to .the.photographer for snapping this shot 🔥🥳... a lil photoshoot drop incoming later this week!
