Warm oil medicine is what the world needs more of.

Yesterday I was honored to share the lineage of Ayurvedic bodywork- Abhyanga, or warm oil gently and rhythmically applied to the skin.

In Ayurveda and in Sanskrit, oil therapy means the same thing as love therapy- snehana, and gives the receiver a feeling of warmth, groundedness, connection to the heart and access to more universal life force energy.

Northern Colorado just got more magical with 3 students well on their way to sharing this warm oil medicine in the near future!

Reciprocity: Community: Togetherness

I'm going to come out and say it. I think people are stuck in a self focused mirror- we are fixated on how other people are annoying, not healed enough, talk too much, don't do this or that "correctly", that we have missed the whole point.

Humans have evolved as a communal species. We relied (and still do even though we forgot) on each other for hunting, gathering, shelter making, medicine, childcare and more.

We need one another to regulate our nervous systems, take care of each other's kids, make meals, garden and more.

Research shows that when all of us are well, we all do better- even those with affluence!

When is the last time you brought someone who was sick in your community a jar a of soup?

When was the last time you offered to watch someone's kids for them- without asking for money?!

When is the last time you gathered outside of a paid circle?

The self obsession must end.

We need each other now more than ever. Make a move to connect. I promise you will receive more than you give.

Sattva in the City

Yesterday I was able to make a dream come true by visiting .nyc for a Sattvic Ayurvedic dinner!

It's not just that they're an amazing authentic Ayurvedic restaurant that is successfully serving SoHo in NYC....

it's not only because makes the most amazing recipes and everything is delicious....

It's not only because the food is so sattvic and my digestion was soothed, balanced and calm after traveling and being in the chaos and beauty of the city...

it is also because we studied with the same Ayurvedic teacher, Vaidya Rama Kant Mishra.

It was a dream to sit in a beautiful restaurant with spa like ambiance and experience food as medicine like the meals we provide for our clients and teach to our students.

It was also pretty cool to hear this song- Talk- by my favorite magical band phish being played while we were eating too ;)

It is not lost on me that I have learned the most in my life being a mother and nourishing mothers in my work as a doula and healing artist.

I have seen mothering bring women to their knees, give them bliss beyond words and hold them to the flame as they grow in their voice, their confidence as a human following their hearts and so much more….

Just so much more. More depth, more humility, more strength, more authentic true loving.

Today I am lighting a candle for my mom, her mom, and all the thousands of mothers I have held space for in the 20 years I have been a doula and healing artist.

I bow to you as you have all devoted your hearts, minds and spirits to the growth of the consciousness of humanity and a more peaceful world.
