YIKES!! This is truly heartbreaking—a five-year-old boy who suffered a severe trauma. He was hospitalized, and like so many others, only static imaging was done. Yet he continues to struggle with headaches and neurological symptoms.
When we look at his motion imaging, it’s hard to miss—the skull literally slips back and forth during movement. That kind of instability simply doesn’t show up on static films. After consulting with several neurosurgeons, including a pediatric specialist, they’re now recommending a fusion surgery.
We’ve seen so many of these cases over the years—pain and dysfunction that happen when patients move, yet many keep relying on images taken while they’re perfectly still. At Katz Chiropractic, we’ve published research showing just how important motion analysis is in finding these hidden instabilities that cause so much suffering.
It still amazes me that, in 2025, many providers don’t use motion imaging when it’s motion that causes the pain. I’m incredibly grateful for the neurosurgeons who understand this and who are willing to collaborate to find the real problem. Together, we can finally create a plan to help this little boy—and so many others—get their lives back.

Chin tucks can cause a posterior translation of the cervical spine, which worsens cervical kyphosis. This altered alignment may narrow the spinal canal and accelerate degenerative changes. In the video, you can see a patient who had already lost her cervical curve. After being prescribed chin tucks, her symptoms worsened. She eventually came to our office, where we focused on restoring her normal cervical lordosis. As shown in the video, her function and overall well-being have significantly improved.
