📢 We're excited to share the latest publication in Nature Medicine: "Proteomic changes upon treatment with semaglutide in individuals with obesity."

Researchers at Novo Nordisk used the SomaScan™ platform to study the effects of semaglutide on blood proteins, providing new insights into the drug’s impact on metabolic health beyond weight loss and glucose regulation.

Key highlights:
👉 Standard BioTools’ SomaScan™ Assay was used to profile approximately 6,400 unique human proteins in nearly 2,000 participants
👉 The data provided insights into disease mechanisms and drug repurposing opportunities and highlighted the value of measuring changes in blood proteins in response to weight loss drugs

Lower coefficients of variation mean greater confidence in a platform’s reproducibility - and greater confidence in your data.

Download our poster on optimizing biomarker discovery with a focus on low coefficient of variation in large-scale proteomics:

Median CVs range from ~4.5% to 18.0% for immunoassay technology, up to >30% for mass spectrometry, ~5% for the SomaScan® Assay, and ~10% for the Olink Explore Assay. Large CVs can cause technical variability to overwhelm biological signal.

Planning to be in Salt Lake City for the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS) Conference? You are invited to attend the Special Poster Collection on Monday, October 21, from 1:30 pm-2:25 pm!

Hear about the utilization of proteomic surrogates for early detection of unexpected drug benefits at Poster M0930-10-54 with Jessica Chadwick, PhD.

And learn how the SomaScan® Platform provides the largest number of protein measurements and the greatest number of orthogonally confirmed protein reagents in the proteomics industry —11,000 protein measurements simultaneously from sample volumes as low as 55 µl—giving researchers access to half of the human proteome in just one assay – at Booth 1402.

🎉Congratulations to the new Nobel Prize winners in Chemistry, David Baker, Demis Hassabis and John M. Jumper, for their research in protein structures!

We're excited that proteins are now taking center stage in research with these important projects. For more than 20 years we've put our efforts into studying proteins and the potential they have for helping us understand our own biology.

We look forward to seeing, and participating in, what the future of protein research brings!

The Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2024 was divided, one half awarded to David Baker "for computational protein design", the other half jointly to Demis Hassabis and John M. Jumper "for protein structure prediction"
