Check out the August issue of Boulder Lifestyle Magazine where I’m featured discussing everything about Facial Acupuncture! After just 1 treatment your face will look rejuvenated! I focus on lifting, sculpting, reducing puffiness, improving skin tone, reducing fine lines & wrinkles. Most importantly, the face is a reflection of how the body is functioning internally, so it’s crucial to treat the entire system to get desired results. Come try for yourself, it’s a natural facelift ✨

How delicious are peaches right now? I have probably eaten a peach a day for the past few weeks. The juiciness drips down my arm when I’m taking the sweetest bites, so I’ve taken to eating them outside. Colorado grows some of the best, they are called Palisade Peaches. Go get them because the season is ending quickly!

According to Chinese Nutrition & TCM, these are the properties of peaches:

🍑Tonifies yin

🍑Promotes qi & blood circulation

🍑Disperses cold

🍑Enters the Stomach, Small Intestine, and Large Intestine

🍑The flavor of is sweet and sour

🍑Considered to be warm in temperature

Tao Ren, Chinese for peach kernel, is a commonly used herb to treat blood stasis for conditions like treat menstrual disorders, endometriosis, dysmenorrhea & to promote menstruation. Tao Ren is also considered to be moistening, it’s a useful herb in treating constipation because it can moisten your intestines and unblock your bowels.

*always consult a professional practitioner before consuming herbs to make sure you are taking what’s best for your unique constitution.

Figs…what more do I have to say 😌

I fell in love with figs when I lived in Oregon for years. Figs grow everywhere. So do lots of other fruits and veggies. Sometimes I would eat breakfast on my morning walk, I’d find a blueberry bush then some blackberries, a fig tree, a plum tree; I would nibble my way throughout the neighborhood & everything tasted so delicious 🤤

My favorite way to eat figs these days is in a smoothie I came up with years ago. I salivate all year, waiting for the days when I see figs at the grocery store in the summer. I now live in Colorado where they do not grow, so I’m now at the mercy of store availability.

I don’t drink smoothies any other time of the year & this is why:

In Chinese Medicine, cold & raw foods are a big no-no. Consuming raw foods diminishes stomach fire, leads to poor digestion, bloating, gas, a weaker metabolism, potentially weight gain, phlegm/mucous, low energy, sluggishness, among other things. If you have a thicker coat on your tongue, that means your digestion is not optimal.

When I have the occasional smoothie, salad or raw fruit, I follow these guidelines:

•Consume at room temp
•Drink warm 🍋 water at the same time
•”Chew your drinks & drink your foods”
•Best to eat in summer & seasonal
•Sip on warm ginger tea afterwards

If you have poor digestion or any above the above symptoms, reach out, Chinese Medicine will help ☯️

Cinqo De Mayo means margarita time for many and I say go for it🍹✨ And the acupuncturist in me cares so much about you, your health, your digestion, your liver, minimizing inflammation & supporting you to have the best of times with the least unhealthy and harmful side effects. That is why the Skinny Margarita is an excellent choice according to Chinese Medicine.

Tequila is good at moving stagnation and dispersing. By stagnation, think of your energetic spark that’s bound up. Tequila gets things moving and I know you can feel when it hits💃🏼

Fresh lime juice has so many medicinal benefits:

🔸high in vit C, antioxidants and anti-cancer properties.

🔸aids in the circulation of blood & qi in our body which is especially good for people that have aches & pains and feel stagnant energy.

🔸clear heat & eliminate toxins. Alcohol in general creates heat in the body, by adding fresh lime, we are counterbalancing that.

🔸boost immunity, aid iron absorption and promote healthy skin.

🔸alcohol creates dampness in the body which contributes to an overgrowth of candida. Limes stimulate the peristaltic action of your colon, which increases the efficiency of your digestive system. When digestion is strong, there will be less candida overgrowth.

Here’s a simple & delicious recipe from my sister who is an expert in tequila and mezcal. She was named the “Tequila Librarian” in NYC!

2 oz tequila 100% blue agave (additive free)
1 oz fresh squeeze lime
0.5 oz agave syrup (I like to make mine with orange oil expressed into the syrup)
1 oz sparking water
(Some like a splash of oj)

I also like to mix up the base spirit (half mezcal 1 oz & half tequila 1.0 oz)

Basically no orange liqueur.

Salt rim is an option.

Drink a big glass of water between each cocktail & have a fabulous time 💥

Hello

My name is Stefanie! I am an acupuncturist & Chinese herbalist. My passion for medicine has been lifelong. I knew at a young age that “when I grew up” I wanted to care for & help people. My studies began at the University of Vermont studying pre-med. The gypsy in me led me to California where I graduated from Humboldt State University as a Botany major. That is when I began learning about the medicinal benefits of plants as I took multiple courses in western herbalism. This led me on the path to discover acupuncture & Eastern modalities. I graduated from Southwest Acupuncture College in Santa Fe, NM in 2006 & then completed clinical internships in Beijing at China Japan Friendship Hospital and at Beijing Traditional Medicine Training Center. I have been practicing for just over 13 years now & I can honestly say, that I fall more in-love with Chinese Medicine everyday. I love working with people, assisting them to live their very best lives. I teach yoga & barre classes as well. I incorporate all of my knowledge along dietary & lifestyle recommendations, to create the most comprehensive & individualized treatment for each of my patients. I feel honored & humbled to do this work. I would love to talk with you more & guide you on your path to health, happiness & peace.
