Jeanine Babcock

Jeanine Marie Babcock,69 of Shepherd, MT, passed away at home, surrounded by her family on July 7, 2025. She was born on December 2, 1955, in Butte, MT, to John Ferriter and Patricia Beers. Gigi was raised with a strong sense of family values and work ethic. She married the love of her life, Wayne Babcock, on April 19th,1970. Together they built a life together and raised three daughters, Shannon, Melissa, and Sara. Nephew Chris Davidson also lived under her care. Gigi was a devoted wife, mother,

grandmother, caregiver, and friend. She had an unmatched ability to love with both softness and strength. Her tough love shaped and supported those lucky to know her. Gigi was dependable in caring for the chores of feeding, watering, and healing for all animals.

She showed the same devotion she gave to everyone in her life. Whether or not the time of day mattered not. She took pride in working and in keeping a warm and welcoming home. A favorite pastime was keeping up with yard and mowing on her John Deere lawnmower. A fresh cup of coffee and fresh air were among her simple joys.

Jeanine's Memory will be cherished by her husband of 55 years, Wayne Babcock, and her daughters Shannon (Mick) of Absarokee, Melissa Babcock of Fargo, Sara (Sundance) of Billings, Chris of Buffalo, brother and sister Jack of Helena, and Jolee of Missoula. Virginia Funk

Virginia Belle Funk, age 96, of Sheridan, Montana, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2025. Born in Wood River, Illinois, to Clinton and Lyda Smith, Virginia was a woman of strength, resilience, and unwavering dedication to her family.

Shortly after graduating high school, Virginia moved with her family to the Sheridan area, where she would build a life filled with hard work and love. On November 26, 1955, she married the love of her life, Kenneth Funk, and together the couple bought a small ranch on Indian Creek Road, where Virginia continued to thrive surrounded by a new family. They were blessed with a son, Tim, instilling in him the values of perseverance and kindness.

A woman of many talents, Virginia worked as Chief of Phone Operations, served as a bookkeeper at Walter's Grocery Store, and sorted rocks at the Cyprus Mine. She was known for her sharp wit, her tireless work ethic, and her deep love for her family. Whether tending to the ranch, sharing stories of her many adventures, or simply offering a listening ear, she touched the lives of all who knew her.

After Kenneth's passing, Virginia moved to Green River, Wyoming, with her son, Tim, and grandson, Xavier. There, she embraced retirement, finding special joy in watching her grandson Xavier grow and welcoming his little girl, her great-granddaughter Lula into the world.

In 2016, Virginia and Tim returned to Sheridan, the place she always considered home. Her later years were spent doing what she loved most-fishing, relaxing in the mountains at the family's special picnic area, and visiting with cherished friends who brought her so much happiness.

Virginia's strength, work ethic, and devotion to family will forever be remembered. She leaves behind a legacy as enduring as the Mountain lands she loved. Rest in peace, our dear Ginny.

Virginia was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Wanda; her husband, Kenneth; her grandson, Xavier; and her parents. She is survived by her son, Tim Funk; her grandchildren, Chelle Cain (Patrick Brewer), Noah Russell, and Ryan Funk; her great-grandchildren, Levi LeBlanc, Glen Zupfer, Sailor Miller, Violet Miller, Kloe Russell, and Lula Funk; and her siblings, Sue Bigelow and Larry Smith and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Sara Nell Hyatt, was born in 1933 in Madrid, Alabama, to Eldridge Lewis Hyatt and Amanda Hinson, and she passed away June 27, 2025, in Dillon, Montana.

Sara grew up in the Dothan, Alabama area, moving to Colorado at age 19. She met the love of her life, Harry Sherman Dunham, and they eloped and were married in November 1953, in New Mexico. They lived in Denver, Colorado when their twin daughters, Jean and Janet, were born, and after moving to Golden, Colorado, their daughter, Susan, was born 5 years later.

Sara became an avid football fan and Harry's hunting partner for many years. She enjoyed quilting, knitting, and crocheting, making many beautiful afghans, quilts, and her famous "scrubbies"

In 1984, Harry and Sara moved to Sheridan, Montana, to begin their retirement. Their life in Montana was busy, enjoying camping, ice fishing, hunting, and square dancing, and they soon started heading to Arizona for warmer winters. Harry and Sara enjoyed exploring new country not only in Montana, but in all the states they visited. Their greatest joy, however, was spending time with family and their numerous friends.

Sara was preceded in death by her parents; husband Harry; sisters Jeanette, Bennie Frank, and Mandy Louise; brothers James and Dixon; and great-grandsons Paden and Coleman.

She is survived by daughters Jean Orr, Janet (Johnny) Thompson, Susan (Dennis) Nelson; grandchildren Candace (Mike) Smith, Kaycee (Charlie) Gilman, and Brynn (Josh) Illig; and step-grandchildren Rich and Rob Thompson; and great-grandchildren Evan, Ella, Emmett, and Everett Smith; Molly, Quinn, and Max Gilman; and Maddy and Leddy Illig.

The Dunham family extends their heartfelt thanks to BeeHive Homes for their loving care of Sara for the last two years, as well as to Honeybee Hospice, both in Dillon, Montana.

A celebration of life is planned for Sara's lifelong friends and family later this summer. All who knew Sara are welcome to attend.

He was born on Aug 31, 1932 in Wolf Point Montana, the youngest of Rose and Joe Laumeyer's four children. Living on the family farm, Bobby learned how to fish and hunt, grow food, work hard, play cards, and fix anything that broke.

Bob left the farm to go to college in Havre at Northern Montana College, where he accidentally signed up for a degree in Education, which became his life-long career and also met Bonnie, his wife of 64 years. Bob was committed to Education; after completing two years at Havre, he started teaching in small Montana towns and attended nine years of summer school to earn his B.A. and M.Ed. degrees. He was superintendent in Boulder, MT for 17 years and even in the months before retirement, he was also tutoring students in Algebra, enabling them to graduate from HS. He was particularly proud of the successful school building projects during his tenure.

Dad's best stories came from his frequent outdoor adventures, including hunting, fishing and rock hounding. He loved competitive gardening, writing poems, collecting books, meeting people and taking family vacations. Bob and Bonnie were dedicated to their extended families, including 27 nieces and nephews with spouses and children, and their adopted family consisting of many friends-for-life.

Bob and Bonnie spent 23 winters of retirement in Sun City AZ, where they had numerous hobbies, played mini-golf, went swimming and hosted grandchildren and other family members who were eager for winter sunshine. Bob grew oranges and roses and wrote and published 12 books of poetry and family stories. He won the Poet of the Year award in 2015.
