Summer sun is coming. "An ounce of prevention is worth ... "
In recognition of Melanoma Awareness Month, the following are 5️⃣ facts you should know about melanoma:
1️⃣ Melanoma is a skin cancer that can spread earlier and more quickly than other skin cancers.
2️⃣ 1 in 50 Americans will develop melanoma in their lifetime.
3️⃣ Unprotected exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun and other sources is a leading cause of melanoma.
4️⃣ Having 5 or more sunburns doubles your risk for melanoma.
5️⃣ Only 20 to 30% of melanomas are found in existing moles, while 70 to 80% arise on apparently normal skin.
Our clinical partnership with UCHealth has produced survival rates higher than the state average for all stages of melanoma. https://bit.ly/3t6PH1q
