Erin received her undergraduate degree from Georgia State University with a major in psychology. Before she began her journey in graduate school Erin worked at Devereux Cleo Wallace, a residential facility for children and teenagers struggling with mental health and behavioral issues. Erin received her Maters degree in Transpersonal Counseling Psychology from Naropa University in 2011. During her

year-long internship with the Rape Assistance and Awareness Program (RAAP) in Denver, Erin did individual therapy, groups and workshops with survivors of sexual assault and their loved ones. Erin is passionate about working with survivors of sexual assault to uncover their personal strength, love for themselves and life. She has found that a grounded sense of hope and a safe atmosphere are essential to starting, continuing and deepening the healing journey.

Please sign this petition whether you are a mental health practitioner in the US or not. The Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council (the licensing agency for mental health practitioners in Texas) is proposing language changes to make the requirements broader for cultural diversity or competency. This could lead to licensees being able to opt out of continuing education in diversity. This seems to be in step with the federal move to halt & dismantle DEI initiatives throughout the country. As a licensed counselor in Colorado I am enraged. Please do sign this petition, write letters and put any and all pressure you can, as a part of the collective that is standing up to Texas right now. The mental health system in this country is not perfect and has many, many flaws. It's a struggle to work within such a broken system at times. But I won't just not do anything to try and work for regulations that demand practitioners in this field have competency helping those that are intentionally marginalized.

On this Thanksgiving day I tune into an indigenous voice Joy Harjo. I mourn the indigenous lives lost in the genocide & colonization of the Americas. Many thanks to the ancestors & original stewards of this land. May we open our hearts to their wisdom.

Join me for the next Open Conversation on Decolonizing Therapy. This time around I will give a little more space for diving into material brought up by participants; to give a taste of what my consultation group can look like.

What is decolonizing therapy? Decolonizing therapy is many more things than I can address here, but in short here are my ideas. It is the understanding and dismantling of ways the field of psychology has been influenced by colonization and all the systems that uphold and go along with colonization ( racism, homophobia, classism, etc). It is the metabolizing of wounds and nervous system responses we have from oppression (whether our ancestors were oppressed or the oppressors, both were affected negatively by colonization).

All mental health practitioners are welcome in this conversation even if:
You aren’t sure if this topic applies to you (trust me, it applies to all beings on this planet at this time)
You feel embarrassed because you are interested but don’t feel you know enough about the topic to ask questions
Are just starting to understand what de-colonizing therapy means
You have been studying this for a long time and are in a group that has been systematically disenfranchised

Join me Sept. 16th for a monthly consultation group through a de-colonizing therapy lens.

What is decolonizing therapy and why would someone want to join a group that comes from this lens? Decolonizing therapy is many more things than I can address here, but in short here are my ideas. It is the understanding and dismantling of ways the field of psychology has been influenced by colonization and all the systems that uphold and go along with colonization ( racism, homophobia, classism, etc). It is the metabolizing of wounds and nervous system responses we have from oppression (whether our ancestors were oppressed or the oppressors, both were affected negatively by colonization).

You have been studying this for a long time and are in a group that has been systematically disenfranchised
Difficult nervous system responses, thoughts, emotions and interactions will come up in this group. And you will be held with care, in community, and safety. That’s why the group closes for four months at a time to allow the container to be built. At four months, the group will open again for members to leave and new members to join. Curious if this group might be for you? Contact me to chat about it. Notice your nervous system response to this information….there’s no wrong response.

Please email if you are interested in an online cohort.

Craving a consultation group to explore decolonizing therapy? To get curious about how decolonizing the personal intersects and overlaps with decolonizing therapy? Are you a therapist that wants to make sure you have community in an individualistic society? Are you a mixed race/ethnicity therapist who wants to share space in consultation with other mixed race/ethnicity therapists? Do you hold space for other therapists in a teacher position, consultation, supervision or other capacity; and you need a space to learn and process your own nervous system charge around topics like race, gender, indigenous land back movement, ancestral healing/trauma, etc?

Join me beginning Monday Sept 16th for a monthly consultation group that will address and explore these in a safe and heartfelt container. Email me to set up a consultation or to register.
Know someone that might be interested?

You have my permission to pass this flyer along or my work email. 💛🧡

Mental health professionals; join me for an open conversation on decolonizing therapy. I am excitedly researching and joining this movement. I don’t have all the answers or perhaps any. No one does at this tome. My intention is to facilitate open dialogue with respect & care. This summer series of talks/dialogues are opportunities to get to know me. In September I will be opening membership for a consultation group for mental health practitioners. Topics like this one are welcome, as well as all other topics that arise. Looking forward to connecting!

Are you interested in joining a consultation group with other therapists that work from a somatic lens? Do you crave community and a place where your tender heart receives love and care from other practitioners? I like to read about all kinds of healing. The more I read about indigenous healing practices, the more I understand the roots of the modern day body, mind, spiritual connection. Again and again, colonialism tried to wipe out indigenous healing practices of this land. Only for culture and society to come to the realization how much truth and benefit there is to practices like these. Currently, I don’t practice with herbs or other indigenous practices, and I respect them and honor their rightful place in a wholistic health regimen.

Our Story

I work with individuals on embodiment, releasing trauma and finding their true selves because I know what it feels like to be disconnected. I didn’t really know I was disconnected from my body, my true self until I started my own therapy while I was in graduate school. Once I graduated I continued therapy and found someone that did somatic counseling and Core Synchronism (though I didn’t know what Core was at that time). Working with her I realized that I have some attachment issues.

Most of my relationships up until this point hugely suffered because of my inability to really trust people for long amounts of time. I couldn’t rest into relationships and trust that people would be there for me. My therapist began using Core Synchronism with me and I started to move through my traumas faster than ever. I started to feel longer and longer moments of connection to my deeper self. It is from this journey that I serve clients.

But here’s the thing; I’m not perfect. Hard things still happen in my life. But you know what’s different?

My relationship to those hard times and how I handle them. My go to ways of handling hard times is no longer collapsing into depression or pushing people away. I cannot offer complete joy, happiness, contentment, mirth, or that nothing hard will ever happen to you again. But I can offer ways to connect with yourself, release trauma and move forward in your healing so that your relationship to your struggles is different.
