Cultivate Balance

Cultivate Balance We build individual and collective resilience through Ayurvedic Lifestyle Design as an emergent stra FEEL GOOD. DO GOOD. THE REVOLUTION BEGINS WITH YOU.

Self care is a radical act — when you are vibrant and awake, you have the clarity and energy to show up for what you believe in. Come home to your body, by going deep within yourself to initiate true transformation. This is the epitome of a local revolution. Remembrance of your connection to the rhythms and elements of nature is the wild reclamation of your ability to heal yourself and transform t

he world around you. When you cultivate balance within your own body and mind, you are able to bring more harmony to your family, community and the planet. YOUR WELLNESS IS THE NEW PARADIGM SHIFT. Radical self care is an alternative to engaging with failing systems, corporate interests and the notion that we are incomplete or unworthy. Knowing your true self, reconnecting with the parts of yourself that you love most, and designing your life to support your deepest wellness, are all acts of resistance. Not only is self care a form of rebellion, it also invites us to find greater clarity of mind, more time to organize, and energy to activate change. RADICAL SELF CARE FOR PEOPLE WHO GIVE A DAMN. Our approach to wellness invites a deep understanding and appreciation for your individuality, offering self care practices that inspire you to celebrate your strengths and overcome your challenges...so you can show up to do your life’s work. The focus is on nutrition, lifestyle routines and self care practices that support you in honoring the most balanced expression of your authentic nature. It is by reclaiming internal balance that your body can heal itself and lasting wellness becomes available. Rooted in Ayurveda, our wellness systems weave ancient wisdom for holistic healing into the modern context. We seek to ensure this powerful knowledge is accessible to all who desire to embark on a journey of renewal. COLLECTIVE WELLNESS IS THE SOLUTION. Collective wellness is the ultimate expression of all wellness. It is the greater vision of what we are working toward in the small moments when we care for ourselves. Collective wellness occurs when we work to meet the needs of a group or community. It is about looking beyond our individual experience to honor a collective vision that prioritizes the needs of many. Valuing collective wellness invites us to think critically about our communities and our roles within them in order to make real contributions. Taking care of ourselves is the first step that enables us to collaborate, connect and show up for what we believe in. The purpose of individual wellness (self care), is truly to be able to take care of others. Collective wellness is the key to creating the world we want to live in. And, you can even think of Ayurveda as the art of living in relation(ship) to the world around us.

It is impossible to talk about Ayurveda as an emergent strategy without mentioning that Ayurveda emerged as the indigenous wisdom of India thousands of years ago.
The word Ayurveda is translated as “science of life” — the wisdom to live well. ‘AYUR’ means life and ‘VEDA’ means knowledge or truth. This word is used to describe the vast body of healing knowledge dating as far back as 6,000 BC.
Ayurveda is said to be an eternal science that first existed in the universal consciousness (Brahma) before it was passed from the creator to the ancient Indian mystics through meditation.
The first mentions of this great body of knowledge are found in the Rig Veda (an ancient Indian collection of Vedic hymns), but the classical texts specific to Ayurveda are called the Charaka Samhita, Susruta Samhita and the Astanga Hridayam. These texts were originally scribed by the ancient seers in the sacred language of Sanskrit, but have since been translated, verse by verse, into English and many other languages.
Under British colonial rule, Ayurveda was forbidden beginning in the 1850s. Many resources were destroyed, but the knowledge was kept alive by families who practiced and shared Ayurveda in secret. Thanks to this great act of resistance, Ayurveda has withstood the test of time and we are able to learn from it today.

As a continuation of part one, I am exploring the concept of Ayurveda as an emergent strategy.

Emergent Strategy is:

“the way we generate and reshape complex systems and patterns with relatively simple interactions.”

With this in mind, here’s my very simple hypothesis:

Incorporating frameworks of care into our lives can help us co-create a better world.

To learn more about how to increase your capacity to co-create a better work with Ayurveda, read the full post in my substack.

I’d love to hear what you think / how you navigate the necessity of both self care and collaborative care in challenging times.
