Nava Starling to teach at Colorado Aerial Arts Summit on Sunday March 30, 2025!

Low Lyra Fluidity 3/30 12noon
Register here: https://www.coaerialarts.com/2025-sunday-workshops/low-lyra-fluidity-nava-starling

Ready to feel like you're dancing in the air rather than working on tricks? Ready to dive into dance theory and clean up your technique? This workshop combines inspiration from ground dance styles like contemporary dance, ballet, and Sufi dance with aerial dance to create sequences that are smooth and buttery. Lyras are set low to integrate working with the earth as a part of your dance and foster different ways of relating to dancing with a lyra.

AND Floor Flow - Liquid Motion
https://www.coaerialarts.com/2025-sunday-workshops/floor-flow-liquid-motion-nava-starling

Expand your aerial dance artistry by integrating ground flow. We'll break down movement theory to create unique shapes, fluid transitions, and hypnotic dance illusions. You may be surprised how the theory we work on on the ground can show up in the air as well!

In teaching, Nava loves the details in a movement and creating a group culture that uplifts the spirits of the students. She brings playfulness to learning while encouraging astute analyzing of body awareness in dance. Nava got her start in aerial dance with the gypsy circus culture of Brooklyn, NY and then moved to Colorado to join the Frequent Flyers intensive program. In both places, she's gained dance inspiration from the nearby mountains and her spiritual studies. She's continued to refine her artistry teaching at the Denver Circus Collective the last few years.

Check your attitude: Aerial Barre Edition- Fallon Voorheis-Mat
Ground & Silks - ALL Levels
Saturday 4p-530p (UP)
What’s the difference between 3rd and 5th position? You know how to eat fondu but not how to dance it. A pas de bour-what now? In this workshop, we’ll break down all the ballet basics into bite-sized pieces. Using aerial silks as our barre, you’ll learn basic standing and arm positions, explore typical barre exercises with the added support and challenge of silks, and work on across-the-floor movements and phrase work. These skills will not only help you feel confident walking into any dance class but will also improve your aerial technique by building strength, control, and awareness both on the ground and in the air.

Fallon is the founder and artistic director of In the Wings. She is a proud Colorado native and has been involved in gymnastics and dance since early childhood. After injuries prevented her from pursuing her gymnastics career, she studied dance under Tony Coppola at Mesa State College. Fallon was introduced to aerial dance in 2010 and instantly fell in love with the art form. She started her training at Frequent Flyers as a member of the apprentice company and spent 7 years with Iluminar Aerial where she wore many hats including Assistant Director. Over the years, Fallon has studied with many different companies and artists including Tanya Burka, Annabelle D’Artois, Daniel Sullivan, Ukoiya Mastin, Elsie Smith, TSNY-LA, the Imperial Flyers High Flying Trapeze Club, and most recently with Hanne Coeckelberghs and Justine Arden. Outside of dance, Fallon is a dedicated GI nurse who enjoys sneaking away to Paris whenever possible, cleaning up French Bulldog and Cane Corso drool, and murder mystery nights with friends.
