Happy nurses day and thank you to our amazing nurses, Nikki and Madi! We all know nurses help care for patients in the office, but did you know they also go above and beyond helping patients plug in to community resources, coordinating care with specialists, answering questions and educating parents and patients, keeping our office supplied and running smoothly, training staff, and making sure we are all up to date with current AAP and CDC recommendations? Our nurses are fantastic, and we surely would be lost without them!

Happy mental health month!! “Mental health” is not code for “mental illness”! Mental health is for everyone! This year the theme of mental health month is “look around, look within”, prompting us all to think about ways of supporting inner peace and wellness in ourselves, our homes, our friendships and communities. What needs do you see in our community, and how can we help to better address those needs? 💚

Happy Arbor Day 2023! North Salt Lake is hosting an Arbor Day tree planting celebration tomorrow at 9am at legacy park, if you are looking for a way to be involved! Or you can check out the Arbor Day festivities at Red Butte Garden today, or better yet, plant a tree in your own yard or neighborhood! Trees clean our air, protect our soil, and soothe our minds. What better reason to get out and plant one!

Behind on vaccines? Standard immunizations are given at 2,4,6,12,15 and 18 months, 4-5 years, 11-12 years, and 16 years. If your child hasn’t been seen at one of those ages, he or she may be due for vaccines! Give us a call to catch up!

Excited to participate in Bountiful’s first ever Bee Festival this Saturday on Main Street from 10-4! Come visit us outside of Pistil and Thorn to learn about how bees help us stay healthy, gather a few kid-tested healthy recipes using honey, take a Bee Healthy Bingo challenge, and make a bee craft! Prizes included.

Happy National Public Health week from Busy Bee Pediatrics! As primary care providers, we are so grateful to work in a community that cares so deeply about keeping kids healthy, safe, loved, and connected! We know that we are only one small support to the nurturing that occurs in homes, neighborhoods and schools. Happy World Autism Awareness Month! Here’s to celebrating neurodiversity and all the ways it enriches all our lives! Our practice routinely screens for autism at 18 and 24 months, but if you have questions or concerns about autism, we can discuss these at any age. If you have neurotypical kids, consider taking the opportunity this month to read some new picture or chapter books featuring characters with autism to help foster understanding.

Pop quiz! By the way, storing pesticides super high up by the ceiling may not do the trick, speaking from experience (one of my kids sprayed deet directly into his eyeballs after finding it here, and it turns out pouring water in a kid’s eyes for 30 minutes is not a fun bonding activity).

Happy Pi Day! Not many holidays celebrate math! A few ideas to enjoy this one:
—Make pie together (or just eat it!)
—Go on a scavenger hunt inside or outside looking for circles! Whoever finds the most circles, wins!
—Check out NASA’s annual pi challenge for school aged kids
—Celebrate by only eating things that are round today
—Have a math game night as a family—Mobi, 24, and even Monopoly count!
