At age 50 I started gaining a little extra weight.

I felt like I was doing the same things that I had always done to keep the weight off.

But it just was not working anymore.

In my 20's and 30's I could clean up my diet and drop 5-10 pounds in a short amount of time

In my mind it should have worked that same way.

But alas...

It did not.

What I didn't realize is that I wasn't working out as much as I thought,

I wasn't as aware of my food choices,

But I was also not being kind to the body that had carried 3 kids and was now going through some pretty huge hormone changes
I have tried to lighten up on myself a bit while holding myself accountable for my health.

After doing tons of research on insulin resistance and glucose spikes, I decided to restrict carbs and really up my protein.

For me this has been the only thing that has helped me stay more healthy and lose some of the extra weight.

When we allow our glucose to spike insulin kicks in and pushes excess glucose into our cells to be used as energy, If we don't use the energy it is stored as fat.

Do I sometimes wish I had my 30 year old body back?

Absolutely... But I am healthy and strong and I just need to remind myself of that!

I want you to know that you matter.
You matter a lot.
..and if you're struggling to find your true purpose in life...

Your purpose will become clear to you when you start to serve others.

The absolute best way you can start to serve others is through your example.

It's by taking care of yourself first.

It's by pursuing your own true potential.

It's by showing other people what it means to live a disciplined life.

It's by sharing your story of overcoming, and coming out the other side as the best version of yourself possible.

You matter a lot.

Don't quit.

Focus on becoming who you were born to become.

Picture this.

It’s 2034. You’re 10 years older.

Your knees hurt when you walk up steps…

Your medicine cabinet looks like a mini-pharmacy…

And your kids or grandkids want to play, but you struggle to keep up.

These are all things we think of as ‘normal aging…

But it doesn’t need to be that way. We can defy the stereotype.

71% of adults 20 and over are overweight with 41% considered obese.

With these statistics comes increased diabetes, heart disease, sleep apnea, and cancer.

There are many reasons why obesity has become so common...

People are eating more processed foods,

they’re eating larger portions,

they’re exercising less,

and they’re spending more time in front of screens.

These are just some of the reasons for the rise in obesity.

This entire list starts with processed foods.

These foods are designed to make you eat larger portions because of they addictive properties.

When we eat more the food companies make more $$$.

Then when we eat the mass amounts of poison filled foods we feel like s**t so we don't feel like moving so we get less exercise.

We then sit in front of a screen for an other dopamine hit because the one from the crap food has worn off.

Its a cycle that is hard to break. But I guarantee if you take control of your diet,

Eliminate processed foods and take back your power from the big food companies that have you dependent on them for your drug of choice,

You can begin to heal your body and your mind.

Eat single item foods and see how it will change your life.

It might be one of the hardest fight you will ever have but you are worth it.

Your loved ones will thank you too.

Comparison is a tool...
..and if you use it correctly...

It can help you make significant progress in your fitness journey.

You may have heard "comparison is the thief of joy."

This is true to an extent....

But only if you allow comparison to make you feel less than and to feel jealous of what someone else has achieved or what they look like.

The key to comparison is having a realistic understanding of where the people you compare yourself to are on their health journey vs where you are on yours.

It's easy to look at someone who has been working on their health for years and let it discourage you because you are not where they are.

But when you compare yourself to these people remember you are either a beginner or you might need to ask yourself...

Have I put in the same time, effort, and energy that they have?

Are you several years or decades older than they are? (I struggle with this one. I feel like I should still have my 20 year old physique.)

Consider the habits...

The mindset...

The amount of time...
..and all the other obstacles these people have overcome to get them where they are.

Ask them how they got their and and learn from them instead of being upset that you are not there yet.

Learn to use comparison to your advantage.

If you truly want to be in tip top health, put in the work,

Instead of feel bad about where you are...

Use it as motivation to strive to be where someone further along is.

CAN YOU HELP ME???

I need some feedback for an online personal training program I will be launching.

Tell me what type of support you would need to do an app based training program? Some examples might be Voxer support, the ability to have daily check ins, prompts from me, group support from others...

Second, many times when we are trying to reach health goals there are underlying emotional issues that keep us from fulling committing to the goals. Would an emotional/mindset aspect of a program be helpful to you?
