We’re happy to highlight Sharla Johnson, an Activity Assistant who works primarily in The Cottage here at Legacy House of Bountiful. Sharla has a truly special rapport with our Memory Care residents, and it’s easy to see why, she genuinely loves them. She plans engaging, meaningful activities and shows heartfelt kindness and compassion every single day. Her deep care for our residents shines through in everything she does, and we are so thankful to have her on our team.

Sharla has been married for 35 years and is the proud mom of six children (4 boys and 2 girls) and two grandsons. She loves staying active with volleyball, hiking, camping, tennis, and pickleball. Sharla has been part of the Legacy family since July 2023, and we’re incredibly lucky to have someone who loves our residents so deeply making a difference in their lives. 💙

Over the past several weeks, our memory care residents have enjoyed a variety of creative projects, crafting, painting, and making together. What you see here isn’t just art, it’s meaningful engagement that supports cognitive, emotional, and social well-being.

Research shows that creative activities can stimulate cognitive function, reduce anxiety and agitation, and boost communication and mood for those living with memory loss. Studies also link creative therapies with better quality of life and stronger social connection compared to routine care.

At Legacy House of Bountiful, we love learning from one another. This week, one of our own residents taught us about the German tradition of Advent and the meaning behind lighting the candles. Afterward, we enjoyed a fun (and delicious!) craft where we created our own little “candles” out of tasty treats. It was informative, creative, and such a sweet reminder of the wonderful traditions and knowledge our residents bring to our community.
