This evening Bovina Fire and EMS will be hosting this virtual Skywarn training. It was originally to be in person in Delhi but was moved to a virtual platform. This class is open to the public! If you are interested in attending please just show up at the station before the 6:30 start to register. Future classes and more about the program can be found at the link below. Bovina Fire and EMS will be hosting Lifenet for a class on Tuesday May 13th at 6pm. Any first responder in Delaware or surrounding counties is welcome to attend! Please reach out to us at the email on the class announcement below to let us know you are attending. Weather permitting we will have the aircraft landing that evening just up the street from the station.

A Red Flag Warning is in effect from noon until 8pm today, March 19 2025, for low humidity and gusty winds. Winds from the south at 14-22 mph with gusts of 25-35mph are expected. Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. As a reminder, there is a statewide burn ban in effect until May 14th.

Bovina Fire and EMS will be hosting an open house on April 26th as part of the FASNY RecruitNY campaign. Fire and EMS services in Bovina are provided by a 100% volunteer department. Your neighbors train for and respond to emergencies in your time of need. Please stop by the station to see our current equipment as well as some of our antique apparatus from years past!

Our volunteer ranks contain members from many various backgrounds. We have teachers, media creators, authors, small business owners, linemen, inn keepers, college students, wildlife technicians, town highway workers, insurance agents, and a handful of retired members!

Junior members can join us at 14 years old with full membership being offered to anybody who is 18 or older. All training is provided free of charge for both fire and EMS members. Delaware County has a great training center located in Hamden NY for specialized trainings on live fire, ropes, confined space, and many more skills!

NYS now offers a stipend for some of the trainings as well! $750 for the BEFO (Basic Exterior Fire Operations) class and $1250 for IFO (Interior Fire Operations)

It is that time of the year again! The NYS DEC burn ban officially starts this Sunday March 16th but this week will be dry! Please pay attention if you do have a burn going and please think about the conditions before you do burn. A wild fire in these conditions will spread and grow quickly.

While open burning is allowed throughout other times of the year there are still restrictions. These can be found on the DEC website at the link below.
