Weekend Reminder 🌿

In a world that constantly tells us to do more, achieve more, and push harder — rest can feel uncomfortable.

But rest is not laziness.
Rest is not falling behind.
Rest is not wasting time.

Rest helps us recharge, think more clearly, regulate emotions, and reconnect with ourselves.

This weekend, give yourself permission to slow down without guilt. Your mind and body deserve care too.

Happy Mother’s Day to all of the incredible moms we have the privilege of working with. 💐

We see the love, strength, sacrifice, and resilience you carry every single day — even on the days when you feel exhausted, overwhelmed, or unsure. Being a mother is one of the most important and demanding roles there is, and we hope today you feel appreciated for all that you do.

Thank you for the care you pour into your families while also continuing to care for yourself and your healing. You deserve support, compassion, and moments of rest too.

Wishing all of our moms a day filled with love. 💕

✨ Healing from trauma is possible — and you do not have to carry it alone. ✨

At Cardinal Behavioral Health, several of our therapists are trained in EMDR therapy to help clients process difficult experiences and move toward healing.

🧠 What is EMDR?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy designed to help individuals process traumatic memories, anxiety, distressing life experiences, and negative beliefs that may feel “stuck.” EMDR uses bilateral stimulation (such as eye movements, tapping, or sounds) to help the brain reprocess painful memories in a healthier way.

Many clients seek EMDR for:
• Trauma/PTSD
• Anxiety & panic attacks
• Childhood trauma
• Grief & loss
• Negative self-worth beliefs
• Stressful or overwhelming life experiences

Our EMDR-trained therapists include:
✨ Mollie Martin, LPCA
✨ Shelby Kempf, LPCC
✨ ReAunna Puskac, LPA
✨ Kelsey Washburn, LPA

Telehealth EMDR options are also available with:
💻 Micheal Shacklette, LPCC
💻 Laura Shacklette, LPCC
💻 Katrina Sharp, LCSW

If you’ve been feeling stuck in survival mode, EMDR may be a helpful step toward healing. 💙

✨Weekend Reminder: Relationships Take Skill, Not Just Intention✨

As we head into the weekend, you’ll likely be spending more time with partners, family, friends—or even navigating difficult dynamics.

💭 Just a gentle reminder:
You can’t control how others act… but you can control how you respond.

This is where interpersonal effectiveness comes in—learning how to:
• Ask for what you need
• Set boundaries without guilt
• Maintain self-respect and relationships

One simple skill to try this weekend: GIVE
💗 Be Gentle (no attacks or harsh tone)
👂 Stay Interested (really listen)
🤝 Validate (acknowledge their feelings)
😊 Keep an Easy manner (a little softness goes a long way)

You don’t have to:
❌ Say yes to everything
❌ Keep the peace at your own expense
❌ Feel guilty for having needs

You do deserve:
✔ To be heard
✔ To set limits
✔ To feel respected in your relationships

If things feel hard this weekend, pause and ask yourself:
👉 “What would it look like to respond skillfully right now?”
