January 29th, 2024 our youngest son’s diagnosis of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) was confirmed through genetic testing, specifically an intermediate presentation of the disease. We realized very quickly how much our world was about to change in every way as our family faces this incurable, progressive, and eventually life-limiting disease with our child.

The future is full of unknowns, and we are learning to embrace each precious moment and live fully in the present with our sweet boy. We are sharing our journey as a family, to increase awareness of DMD/Muscular Dystrophy and to connect with others who are also on their own path with this disease.

We would appreciate prayers for our family and especially our baby boy. No child should have to face what he will have to face. We feel helpless and scared as we try and grasp on to this new reality. We can’t fix this, but as the Bowling Green Fire Department’s motto says, we can work to “make it better.” We will do our very best to do just that!



This is Mason. He is 6 years old. He loves space, volcanoes, matchbox cars, building cities, legos, camping and his big brother. He wants to be firefighter like his daddy and go to the moon 🚀when he grows up.
