The 2026 theme for Senior Health and Wellness Day at the Willows in Bowling Green was “Passport to Wellness.” Residents from all service lines and community members embarked on an interactive wellness journey focused on physical, cognitive, emotional, and social well-being. Participants traveled through themed wellness “destinations,” while engaging with staff and community partners in fun, meaningful activities designed for all ability levels.
The journey began at the Body Station, “Strength and Motion Mountain,” where DOR Kristen and OTR Micaiah provided individualized home exercise programs tailored to each participant’s mobility level and personal fitness goals. Travelers then visited the Mind Station, “Brain Boost Bay,” where SLP Jeannene and COTA Holly highlighted the importance of exercising the brain through engaging cognitive wellness activities.
The third stop was the Heart Health Station, “Heart Harbor,” led by COTA Chelsea and PTA Cassie. Participants learned the importance of monitoring blood pressure and received healthy snacks to help fuel the remainder of their trip. At the fourth destination, “Creativity Cove,” the Life Enrichment Department encouraged hydration and creativity by providing travel mugs for participants to decorate and take home.
The final destination was a “Travel Around the World” Happy Hour featuring appetizers from various countries prepared by the Culinary Department, along with live entertainment by Ben DeLong. Participants left the event with a greater understanding of healthy blood pressure management, individualized exercise, hydration, nutrition, and brain health. Thank you to all who participated!
